Found this in the ESPN Baylor wrap:
.The Bears had made the Sweet 16 12 consecutive times prior to this loss, snapping the fourth-longest such streak in NCAA tournament history.

It got me thinking about our various tournament streaks:
13 FFs (still active) (and a streaks of 5 which is tied second with LSU, Stanford, and ND)

15 Elite eight (still active)
27 S16 (still active)

Stanford currently has:
FF - 1 (longest streak 5)
E8 - 2 (longest streak 5)
S16 - 14 (includes this year)

ND has no current streak, but their longest streaks are:
FF - 5
E8 - 5
S16 - 10

Baylor has no current streak, but their longest are:
FF - 1 (4x FF and 3 championships)
E8 - 4
S16 - 12

South Carolina current streaks:
FF - 1 (longest streak 1)
E8 - 1 (longest streak 2)
S16 - 7

Tennessee has no current streaks, but longest are:
FF - 4 three times
E8 - 7
S16 - 27 (1982 (first year of NCAA-2008)

It is really amazing to see the unparalleled level of consistent excellence Uconn and Geno have achieved. TN and Pat is the only program to have come close.

Assuming we win against UCF, we then move ahead of Tennessee for most consecutive sweet sixteens since their streak ended at 27 and we are at 27 now and counting.

Is there a record for most consecutive FFs made without making it to the NC game or winning the NC? This should be the year UCONN makes that question moot.

So to address that first streak of 12 consecutive of Sweet 16's for Baylor as the 4th longest, that means:
1. UConn and Tennessee are tied at 27; UConn's is active and can be 28 with a win tonight and thus eclipse Tennessee again (the gift that keeps on giving even with them be less relevant than before!).
3. Stanford has an active streak of 14 now.
4. Baylor streak of 12, ended in 2022.

The level of elite consistency is truly amazing and the 13 consecutive Final Fours is really like Joe DiMaggio's 56 game hitting streak, an untouchable number for any number of reasons with the first most being pressure and parity. Kudos to both Geno and Tara. Honorable mention to Pat Summitt for the standard bearer that Tennessee was.

Just scanning quickly down the wikipedia page, it looks like the record is 5: LSU 2004-2008 (lost all five semifinals) and Stanford 2008-2012 (two final appearances).

Stanford/Tara I believe has the record for FF appearances without a title at 10 starting in 1995 (famous Uconn will get destroyed by TN comment after the FF loss) and ending with her 2021 championship. - There was a string of 5 FF (2008-2012) with 2 runner-ups.

Notre Dame/Muffet had a string of 5 FF consecutive appearances (2011-2015) in a FF with four runner-ups.

LSU had a string of 5 consecutive FF appearances (2004-2008) with no runner-ups. Interestingly their only FF appearances in school history and with three different coaches - 2004 Sue Gunter, 2005-2007 Pokey Chatman, 2008 Van Chancellor.

Pat/Tennessee had a string of 5 FF appearances without a title with 4 of them consecutive (2002-2005) with 2 runner-ups.

And of course Geno has an active streak of 4 FF starting in 2017 with zero runner-ups.

So Uconn holds the active and all time streaks of
First round wins: 28
Second round wins: 28
Third round wins: 15
Fourth round wins: 13

The last time Uconn lost a game on the first weekend (1993), the tournament had 48 teams with the top 16 getting a bye into the second round. Uconn a six seed lost to Louisville an 11 seed. Lobo and Webber were sophomores, Rizzotti and Elliott were freshmen, and Geno and Chris were young and hip!:)

E8 - 3 (longest streak 5)
S16 - 14 (third longest S16 steak)

ND currently has:
FF - 0 (longest 5)
E8 - 0 (longest 5)
S16 - 1 (longest 10)

Baylor has no current streak, but their longest are:

S16 - 1 (longest streak 27 - from 1982 first year of NCAA-2008)
It is really amazing to see the unparalleled level of consistent excellence Uconn and Geno have achieved. TN and Pat is the only program to have come close. The longest current streak for a college other than Uconn is 16 sweet sixteens by Stanford which equals Uconn's current streak of FF appearances!
Previous totals are now all updated and:
Louisville now has:
FF - 1 (longest 1)
E8 - 4
S16 - 5
