Found this in the ESPN Baylor wrap:
.The Bears had made the Sweet 16 12 consecutive times prior to this loss, snapping the fourth-longest such streak in NCAA tournament history.
It got me thinking about our various tournament streaks:
13 (still active) (and a streaks of 5 which is tied second with LSU, Stanford, and ND)
15 Elite eight (still active)
27 S16 (still active)
Stanford currently has:
FF - 1 (longest streak 5)
E8 - 2 (longest streak 5)
S16 - 14 (includes this year)
ND has no current streak, but their longest streaks are:
FF - 5
E8 - 5
S16 - 10
Baylor has no current streak, but their longest are:
FF - 1 (4x FF and 3 championships)
E8 - 4
S16 - 12
South Carolina current streaks:
FF - 1 (longest streak 1)
E8 - 1 (longest streak 2)
S16 - 7
Tennessee has no current streaks, but longest are:
FF - 4 three times
E8 - 7
S16 - 27 (1982 (first year of NCAA-2008)
It is really amazing to see the unparalleled level of consistent excellence Uconn and Geno have achieved. TN and Pat is the only program to have come close.
