The NCAA has publicly reprimanded Cincinnati basketball coach Mick Cronin for bad language after the Bearcats' tournament loss to Ohio State.

The NCAA says its Division I men's basketball committee found that Cronin used "profane and abusive language" toward a game official. Ohio State made the East regional final in March by beating its cross-state rival 81-66.

Is anyone else laughing like I am thinking about how JC has escaped this type of reprimand?

only took them 5 months. that's what i call efficiency.

And Jeff Hathaway delivered the lecture - I'm sure the irony of it all struck him.

Cronin took it well - "I apologize to anyone who may have been offended by my off-color remarks. I agree with the NCAA's decision to wash my mouth out with soap. Further, I have promised them that in the future, I will use better judgement, avoid profanity and provide my athletes with made-up course work and falsified grades which they assure me is well-beyond their powers to monitor."

I am soooo happy they are concentrating on the really important stuff. So they smack the out of PSU, give UNC a pass and then go after an Irishman for swearing. I think that's a full month's worth of work, they should all take a nice vacation.

My favorite Calhoun cussing story is when, early in his career, the AD informed Jim that some parents, sitting behind the bench were troubled by his language. Calhoun's response was don't worry I'll see to it that it doesn't happen again...and he moved the parent seats to the other side of the arena.

I think it can explained by that great quote from a Christmas Story, "He worked in profanity the way other artists might work in oils or clay."
