it was probably discussed in a thread long ago, but what the ticket price range for on campus games?

Face is about $25/per. However, to get good seats, you either have to be a season ticket holder who contributes significantly to UConn Club, or you have to scalp (or have someone be kind of enough to give you their good tickets so you and your daughter can go to a game, as a lovely Boneyarder did this past season).

The product is awesome. The team is terrific, and UConn plays in a tough league and has a tough OOC schedule. They could squeeze in a few more "name brand" teams, but a) the games won't be more compelling, and b) those teams will demand a return date.

The place, unfortunately, can't change, and the other delivery channels to provide the product are getting better and better since UConn's peak attendance days. If you can watch UConn in HD, why drive to Storrs, or even Hartford, unless it's for a huge game?

Promotion is something UConn has fallen flat on.

Pricing is a tricky one. Are casual fans going to spend $10 to go to a game instead of $25 if the opponent is totally overmatched? Especially when they have to pay for gas, concessions, and parking? The casual fan is more likely to decide to stay home and watch the first half on TV regardless of the ticket price.

Glad to see Iowa still supporting girls and womens basketball the way they do.

They were selling 40,000 tickets to high school tournaments back in the 1940s when Iowa was the center of the basketball universe in.

They didnt officially have the last 6 on 6 high school game until 1993 (not that many teams played it at that point)

The article is somewhat misleading. I don't know if it's a case of looking for a positive or a deliberate attempt to cover up the fact that individual game attendance is actually down (-8 last season) in 3 of the last 4 years. While raw attendance numbers are slightly up from last year that number is skewed by the increase in D1 teams (336 vs 331) and games played (5004 vs 4951). Overall NCAA WCBB attendance is stagnant after showing large yearly gains through the 2007/2008 season.

Ok... well at Duke... I think general admission tickets are maybe 8-11 dollars.... I always get reserved seats.. and they are 14 dollars for most games... 17 bucks for the big games (UCONN, UNC, MARYLAND)... I order them online, and they charge a 3 dollar service charge... so for 20 bucks... I can pretty much be 2-3 rows up from the floor...... or sometimes right behind the visitors bench... and parking is free....

I have been to the Duke game at Wake Forest the past few years... and they charge 5 dollars a ticket... and its general admission..

That and watching corn grow. There are far fewer in-person entertainment options there than, say, San Diego. But they are good fans and good people.

I was just thinking of this post yesterday. I was driving home after a busy afternoon (Two Zumba demos at the grocery store and a kids triathlon at the Y) and there's a decent-sized cornfield right outside of our subdivision and as I drove past it, I was thinking--wow, that corn is really starting to grow! LOL.

And yes. It's, in a way, downright dull. And as much as I want to hate it here, it's hard because the people are so freaking nice! Fortunately, while there's not a lot in the way of adult entertainment (pro sports, things like that), there's SO much for kids to do. Gymnastics, children's museums, music classes, art classes, dance classes, games classes, ice skating, water parks. We do a decent job of keeping ourselves busy.
