Highlights:
  • The preseason exhibition proposal would allow teams to compete in three preseason practice scrimmages and/or exhibition games against four-year schools for the 2026-27 academic year.
  • Both oversight committees also recommended legislation to allow teams to take one foreign tour each year.

I think it's fair to say the NCAA isn't proposing this... the members of the NCAA (aka coaches and admin). Clearly, they're working under the auspices of the most vocal/engaged programs.

I think the annual trip is a UConn and P/5 proposal. That’s a lot of money for other schools.

Is Canada part of that once per year limit. I could see the Michigans and Notre Dames etc. wanting a Canada trip and European tour in the same year.

Actually, Geno has said the foreign trips are likely a thing of the past due to the ruling that players can be directly paid by schools. UConn can do one or the other, and paying the players probably wins.
