The NCAA announced Wednesday that the women's basketball tournament will move to a 68-team field, up from 64, starting this season.

In addition, the women's selection show will be Sunday, March 13, on ESPN. The show had been on Mondays since 2006, but it moves back to Sunday to accommodate the extra games, which will be played March 16-17.

Hooray for 4 more bubblicious teams. This seems like something there wasn't really that much demand for. First 4 is pretty lame in men's hoops (except for the rare occasion where one of the teams makes it all the way to the Final 4, has happened at least twice), I expect it to be equally lame for women.

It increases the chance that Nicholls might get a bid to the tournament.

Will be interesting to see if it benefits mid to low majors or P5/high majors more.

Who else might've gotten in if there were 4 extra last year? Maybe teams like DePaul and Colorado?

DePaul, Colorado, Houston, and Mississippi State would have been among the extra four, I think. You could also argue to include Oklahoma.

About time! Get those four teams in and allow the WNIT and CBI to pull in the rest of teams that were close but just missed out. Love it!
