Well you have spoken. Winners for the Semi Finals were

1995 Team 21%
2009 Team 79%

2002 Team 88%
2000 Team 12%

So that gives us a Final of 2002 vs 2009

2002 Team - Bird, Williams, Cash, Jones (Sr), Taurasi, Conlon, MValley (So), Battle, Moore, AValley, Marron (Fr) - Battle and Moore were R/S. Johnson had Xfrd out and Walters was injured.

2009 Team - Montgomery, Williams, Kerns (Sr), Charles, Greene, McLaren, Gardler, Fernandes (Jr), Moore, Dixon (So), Hayes, Doty (Fr) - Delle Donne Xfr out, Buck inj R/S, McCormick Xfr in R/S

Give it a couple days to vote. Last one, make your votes count.

Coming down to these two was probably inevitable. Their records and performance speak for themselves.

I demand recounts - go to the paper ballots - don't trust these black box computer codes with no way to check if someone may have voted twice!

imo 2002 team wins. I believe this is a bad matchup for 2009. IMO in order to beat 2002, you need a big center that can score a lot. Tina in 2009 wasn't the super player that she turned out to be in 2010. The 2009 team would have fits handling DT and Tamika would badly hurt Kalana in the paint. Tamika was adept at offensive rebounding. Unless Tina and Maya were there for help, Tamika would use her body- strength vs KG. There is a reason why Tamika was 6th pick overall.

IMO the 2010 team with a prime Tina could maybe offset some of 2002's advantages. Tina was awesome in 2010. NPOY. Her game might have opened a ton of thing sup for teammates. 1995 Team also would be tougher on 2002 than 2009 (and 2000) imo.

I think when this game is played matters somewhat. At the beginning of the 2008-09 season, Tina still wasn't quite where Geno wanted her. By tourney time, she was good enough to make the WBCA team. And then she finished the season as MOP of the F4. Thus, by season's end, you could make the argument that Uconn had three of the top five players in the country (Maya was NPOY, Renee was a first team AP AA).

Both squads had three WBCA AAs. Neither used their respective benches overmuch against elite competition.

I'd give Sue an edge over Renee, though Renee is no slouch. D certainly gets the edge over Tiff. Swin over Kalana for sure. But Maya and end-of-season Tina would create problems for Asjha and Tamika.

This would be a fascinating game. I'm still thinking about this.

Does anyone else think the 2010 team was better than 2009? I know the absence of Renee would suggest otherwise and perhaps the first half performance against Stanford in the championship scares people off but Tina was a monster the entire year in 2010. Better than 2009. We added Kelly and Doty had her 1 and only healthy year as the player she would have been had it not been for the acl's. Maya a year older, KG was great, Hayes solid. And 2009 had no challengers as tough as that Stanford team we beat in the Finals.

Alex- we can agree to disagree that Tina was among top 5 players in the country that year. IMO she was no higher than at end of that year than how great Ashja Jones was at the end of her 2002 season. But the biggest thing I disagree with in terms of your assessment is only giving DT an edge over TH. IMO the Jr Tina also wouldn't be able to handle AJones either that well. AJones especially late was a terrfic scorer. And it wasn't like her game was only fromt he inside. She could hit from the perimeter. Not a Tina strength in terms of defending. While Tina gets an edge, I don't see it as that big. But DT over TH imo is greater than Maya over Tamika. Tamika was a senior. The best defender and the no. 6 pick overall. IMO that level of play from Tamika far exceeds the level of play from just the Soph TH.

ASweet I too have a slight lean toward the 2010 team. I believe it all had to do with Tina. She was so good- she jumped Maya. But imo they are so close. It comes down to matchups.

Alex the more I think about it maybe Tina was 4th or 5th- so maybe you are right about Tina in top 5. I guess that equates - 3 top 5 on both. But A Jones was certainly top 10 if not higher. And Tamika as number 5 best player- is awesome. IMO the 4thbest player on 2002 much (a lot) better than 4th best player on 2009 and the 5th best player is better too. I don't believe the bench makes up for that. DT, Sue Bird and Swin arguably top 3. A Jones arguably 6 or maybe 7 or 8. Maybe 2009 has 1,2 and 4. Then after that a big drop.
