The opening night game telecast Yankees and Nationals drew 4 million viewers, making it the largest audience for an opening night game ever and the most-watched regular season MLB game since 2011. Overall, the MLB is doing very well posting some of its best numbers in years.

You have to consider lawnmower races would probably draw 3 million viewers these days.

Two factors:

1) No NBA or NHL
2) There's a "watch like there's no (baseball) tomorrow" factor. The confidence that this season will finish is much lower than bubble leagues.

Theres been no sports for months. I know people who were betting on esports and virtual sports. Its no surprise baseball is killing it with ratings

All 9 innings, or at least 6?

Watching baseball is a sport you can easily multi-task. Hell you don't really need a TV for the sport.
