NBC SN revived

I’m surprised they’re doing this rather than putting everything on peacock. Wonder if all the sports on USA will be moved to NBCSN

Certainly the goal WAS to put everything on peacock. Pretty sure that’s why they shut down the old NBCSN. Must have backfired.

I'd rather the games be on here then on Peacock. Out of our 31 games this year, 22 are on linear TV. One was on ESPN+ and eight (as of now) are Peacock. If even half of those are converted to NBC SN, I will view our TV contract in an entirely different light.

I have peacock for the prem league. I wonder where the replays will be available going forward. Doesn’t say if there’s gonna be an NBCSN app which would be nice because it would be free but I doubt it so will have to keep peacock for that

“The other takeaway is that based on what sports you are interested in, there is a strong chance you will no longer want and/or need Peacock, which will save you money.” (SI article)
I don't understand this obsession with having to pay for Peacock TV. My guess is that more than 90% of boneyarders are already paying for cable TV which cost way more than Peacock.
I mean if you can afford to pay for cable TV you certainly can afford a couple more bucks for peacock without complaining about it.

It’s not the 10/Mo. it’s 10/Mo x 10 diff services. When streaming started it was 50/Mo all in.

Because it's an additional $15 per month. If you haven't noticed everything is really expensive and you need to sign up for several different streaming services just to watch sports we used to watch on cable.

Right and now you don't need cable you can just sign up for the streaming service. Okay

My beef with peacock isn’t having to pay for it. It’s their dog —- platform. You can’t pause the game longer than like 2 minutes and it’s impossible to watch on delay - you have to just wait for whenever they put up the replay.

I have two young kids, I’m often dealing with their bedtimes when UConn games start. On YTTV I can set it to record and start the game on delay and catch up through commercials. With ESPN+ I can start the game from the beginning whenever I want and skip through commercials. There’s none of that with peacock. If you start late you’re SOL and you can’t watch it semi live and catch up.

Even if peacock were free it’s not linear television. Hiding 7-8 UConn games behind a paywall isn’t great for our brand.

See I consider cable TV a pay wall and all the content that's on it I dropped cable back in 97 and I pay for the games I want to watch and I don't understand why other people can't do the same.

Trivia question, no research alllowed. What was the last event shown on the original NBCSN? I know because I was watching.

I'm a Diamond rewards member through XFinity and they don't offer it for free. Their rewards are awful.
Weird because I am Diamond too and saw it on an Xfinity Rewards email they sent me shortly after they launched the platform.
Maybe they were just trying to get some early joiners on that offer.
That little program has been fruitful for me with a free and halfway decent portable Bluetooth speaker sent to me and a pair of Wicked II tix (for the my and kid) last week.
Still waiting on winning one of their big contests but I enter all I can.

Hey, that's how Val got the schools more money by putting 25% of our games on a pay channel. So, in essence Val got UConn more media revenue by getting it from the UConn fans rather than from advertisers .

Paying for something that sucks, sucks.

It's like you don't know us at all.

Interesting development. I suspect it is a marriage of convenience in part due to the need to compensate for YouTube TVs loss of ESPN channels. At least in the near term, it's irrelevant to those of us who have Hulu live.
