NBA Summer League

Find myself pulling for Hawk more so than Bouk, and every time they say Daniels, I’m irrationally thinking “Deandre?”

Bouknight just took a corner 3 with some of the worst form I've ever seen. It was Andre level. Then missed a (tough) transition layup.

Why is Hawkins missing so many free throws? Been an issue the first few games. He was a reliable 90ish % shooter just a few months ago

Could Team Final beat Charlotte summer league?
The one with Bates, Lively, Duren, and Justice Williams maybe could've.

And it's not because Final was good, but because this Hornets team plays so poorly together, is so poorly assembled, and doesn't give a crap.

I think Hawkins is gassed. Not getting much lift on his shot and is lurching forward a lot more than usual, probably to make up for it

Could explain why his shooting dropped off a cliff last game?

You can see how different it was at UConn with the passing. NO isn't a horrible passing team but the passes are just slightly off target and slightly late.

Not much going for the Huskies at halftime. Hawkins 5 points/4 rebounds on 1-6 shooting, mostly good looks. Bouknight 2 points/4 rebounds on 1-4, mostly bad looks.

Charlotte started the game down 18-0 and are only down 5 at halftime so I'd think they are feeling alright. McGowens hit some big threes

Bouks ability with the ball has shown the last quarter. Hit a three but has been able to break down his man a few times and create looks for others

Bouknight came alive in the third. Aggressive off the catch, by my count shot 3-6 himself while creating looks for others. In total 4-10 for 11 points after the third quarter.

Hawkins still struggling with 1-7 shooting. Xavier Sneed tried to throw down a monster dunk over him towards the end of the third. Not sure if Hawkins blocked it or if Sneed just missed but...that would have been nasty

Bouknight looking active and his shot is falling. Hawkins at least hit 2 FT's still in a major shooting funk.

Hawks just got punked going up for dunk. Ugh. Bad look. Then he misses a jump shot on the following inbound play. Looks kind of lazy on d too.

McGowan gets fouled driving to the hole.... all teammates except for Bouk went to help him up. Maybe it's nothing, but you'd never see that on a Hurley coached team

Pelicans end up taking it over the Hornets

Bouknight had a great second half. He was 1-4 at halftime and finished with 28 points on 52%. Finally showed confidence and shot making ability, got a lot of threes to go down as well (4-9, 44% from 3)

Hawkins had another rough night with 9 points on 2-13 shooting. He looks exhausted out there but did grab 8 rebounds and played some solid defense. He really needs to figure out his shot soon..that's what he was drafted to do and his scoring ability has disappeared the last 2 games

Nick Smith Jr can be a really solid player. The percentages weren't there but his body language and leadership showed while Charlotte was trying to come back throughout the game. Sometimes gets a little too excited but seems able to get to his spot well

No idea who Seabron is, but he was unstoppable

Hawk will be fine

Seabron is a superhero combining the forces of Lebron James and a Sea Monster. Pretty tough to compete with.

Bouk may have scored but he has terrible body language and he has a lousy team attitude. He doesn't even listen in a huddle. BTW - as you remember, he was coached by Dan Hurley.
His time is very short and deservingly so - he needs to work on other areas of his life, never mind hoops

Hawkins might be enjoying Vegas a little too much. (assumption)

A lot of rookies do with it being their first time there as millionaires.

I don’t think that’s Hawk’s style. My best guess is that the nerves are getting to him a bit. Went through the same thing his freshman year. He’ll adjust and once he knocks down a few, I think he’ll get rolling.
