G League to offer 'professional path' to elite prospects not wanting to go to one-and-done route with NCAA

I do wonder however how many blue chippers will go this route. Perhaps there is a thought process that if they enter the G league, some of the warts in their game may show and hurt their draft status and those rookie scale contracts that are bursting with cash. In college, you can hide your warts better, get drafted high and get first 2 years of the rookie contract guaranteed.

Think this is a temporary solution with the ultimate goal being HS players directly to NBA-as it used to be. I'll give it 1 season. This NBA rule exists strictly to protect the NBA GMs from making a mistake in drafting a HS player. The data overwhelming shows that NBA GMs are making just as many mistakes on the 1 and done players as they are when HS graduates were immediately eligible.
