Mistie Bass (Duke + WNBA) - is the daughter of Chubby Checker. I can't remember which NBA team he played for but he had an awesome ankle-breaker move...

Also, didn't Maya Moore's father at least get drafted?
Good memory!
Maya Moore: Mike Dabney, father of the UConn standout, was a terrific hoops player in his own right, helping an undefeated 1976 Rutgers squad make a trip to the Final Four, the first in Scarlet Knights history. An honorable mention All-America guard when he played for assistant coach Dick Vitale at Rutgers, Dabney was taken by the Lakers in the third round of the '76 draft. Moore was raised by her mother, Kathryn, and Dabney wasn't in her life until her senior year in high school. Their relationship may be new, but his basketball genes have played a role in her success since day one.

Met Chubby in HTFD at his daughter's all star game. Took my UConn hat and signed his name, Still have it. Worth anything??
Saw Chubby perform at the NY State Fair back in the 80's. It was a little past his heyday, but he was terrific.

If you ask me, your autographed hat is priceless.

Funny, had a similar situation as Dee in regards to my daught. Told her she had to choose between basketball and softball. Suggested she should choose basketball because there are more opportunites.

As in more scholarships? Or the chance to play in Europe to make serious $$? Or something else?

I would have paid for AAU and softball since they are both at the same time, which is why she had to choose. But, softball was no where near as big here in CT. Way more opportunites for everything you mentioned.

No I get it.

My sister was a D1 softball player (one of the best pitchers in the state in HS, super proud of her) so she had to decide too.

I'm just curious cause i'm a much bigger baseball/softball fan than basketball fan in general (except UConn hoops, which I love dearly).

I want to see both baseball and softball grow at the youth levels, so that's why I asked.
