i've been in an espn league with a group of highschool friends for 10 years. we do an auction draft with up to 3 keepers per team that we "sign" to contracts between 1-3 years in length. depending on the auction value of the player and the length of the contract, the cost to keep them under contract increases each year at a set rate. lots of fun and way more work than fantasy football since you have to set your lineups every day instead of once/week. it's also not purely based on injury luck. but yeah id recommend starting with a snake draft on espn.
