What "news" happens in football the week before the Super Bowl ? Right, NONEBtw. Super Bowl week. What news dominated the sports world? NBA news. Not football.

They already do win championships. Giannis, Joker, and, Tatum all won. Tatum and Giannis are boring personalities that don't move the needle. Joker has been the best player for 5 years in a row and doesn't move the needle. I think he's funny but he wants nothing to do with the NBA other than playing games and trying to win. SGA is a quiet guy, I love his game but it's not at all flashy. Wemby, once the novelty thing wears off he's another quiet guy from another country. We already have posters saying they find his game unappealing to watch. Luka would probably be the closest to moving the needle but there's no guarantee he'll ever get in shape and take the game as seriously as he should.I think you could argue Jokic/Shai/Wemby/Luka/Tatum need the old guard to retire so people will shift their attention to the new era. As those 5 win championships, they’ll become household names. People won’t suddenly stop caring about basketball after the legends retire, the new guys will grow their popularity quickly.
So you’re saying what the NBA is missing is big loud personalities? Like Danny Hurley, lol? They already do win championships. Giannis, Joker, and, Tatum all won. Hurley would last about a month up there. So you’re saying what the NBA is missing is big loud personalities? Like Danny Hurley, lol?
What’s missing is unlikely to happen much ever again in economics driven sports. Players aren’t playing for the name on the front of the jersey.Unfortunately we're in a media environment where nothing moves the needle anymore because the fans won't let anything move the needle. NBA fans hate the NBA
6'7 point guard (Luka) that averages close to a 30pt triple double who is a nightly 50pt threat and lethal anywhere from the rim to 35 feet? meh, too fat and slow
7'0 center (Jokic) that averages close to a 30pt triple double who is the best passing big man in basketball history? meh, he doesn't care enough
6'8 wing (Tatum) that averages close to 30 a game, can break anyone down 1v1 and hit sidestep contested 3s while leading the best team in the NBA in a historic market? meh, boring
6'6 PG (SGA) that has an oldschool game of dribble combo breakdowns living in the midrange, averaging over 30 points a game on 50% FG? meh, boring
6'10 athletic freak of nature (Giannis) that is a league leader in rebounds while averaging 30 points a game and being completely unstoppable? meh, can't shoot
7'4 unicorn (Wemby) that leads the league in blocks, is DPOY frontrunner, averages 24/11/4 at 21 years old and is the centerpiece of a young team that has dynasty potential? LOL 7'4 GUY CAN'T POST UP!!!!
There’s not many players with the Jordan archetype of being elite, high flying wing scorers.Unfortunately we're in a media environment where nothing moves the needle anymore because the fans won't let anything move the needle. NBA fans hate the NBA

Talent isn’t the issue at all. There’s not many players with the Jordan archetype of being elite, high flying wing scorers.
The closest on this list is Tatum and SGA. SGA is pretty fun to watch for me personally. The problems with Tatum have been spoken about extensively.
It’s weird in a time period where guys are suppose to be more skilled and athletic than ever that these kind of players aren’t being produced anymore when you can find them by the dozen in the 2000s.
The wings from the 2000s would absolutely destroy the wings of today.Talent isn’t the issue at all.
The NBA overall is the deepest and most talented it has ever been. The wings from the 2000s would absolutely destroy the wings of today.
Maybe the PGs, it’s debatable based on what you value.
The bigs are the main position that’s light years better today.
If you want to say the league is deep with talent, sure. The NBA overall is the deepest and most talented it has ever been.
There is the most high level talent in the league at one time there every has been.If you want to say the league is deep with talent, sure.
I don’t think what we’re saying is mutually exclusive.
Talent isn't the problem, style of play is the problem. People don't want to watch teams hoist up 50 threes in a game. So many athletic players yet their athleticism largely isn't being showcased. That's part of Castle's appeal, he's attacking off the dribble getting to the rim and putting people on posters in the halfcourt which is increasingly rare in today's NBA.The NBA overall is the deepest and most talented it has ever been.
I made clear what my stance was. There is the most high level talent in the league at one time there every has been.
It’s also the deepest.
Two of the best guys on that list are still playing at an incredibly high level. It’s certainly deeper, and PG play is at an all time high as well.I made clear what my stance was.
The bigs today is light years ahead of the time where it was Shaq and the field. Even though I’m not sure if any are better than Shaq. Obviously Joker has a great argument.
But do you disagree with the statement that guys like Kobe, TMac, LeBron, Melo, Wade, and KD were better than this crop of Edward’s, Booker, Tatum, etc.?
Like I had mentioned earlier LeBron ruined the dunk contest by not participating in it as a rookie and then no else wanted to do it.
Ok the allstar game was still pretty good going into the 2010s yes was high scoring no one is saying they should play like it's the playoffs it's an allstar game after all at least there was some competition.
Kobe as an historian of the game knew right then and there that the allstar game changed forever even Melo knew.
Just go back to East vs West. Also bring back the NBA on NBC and CBS, TNT is good but bring back the old theme music. When you mess with tradition less people will tune in.
So young KD and young LeBron and everyone on that list vs current Bron and KD and the young guys. Two of the best guys on that list are still playing at an incredibly high level. It’s certainly deeper, and PG play is at an all time high as well.
A graphic for this argument
Yes overall much deeper and more talent, i’ve said this many times before. So young KD and young LeBron and everyone on that list vs current Bron and KD and the young guys.
You think today’s crop is better? I just want a yes or no.
No, it’s not. The rule changes and the athleticism don’t mean it’s the most talented. It covers for the lack of skillThe NBA overall is the deepest and most talented it has ever been.
A graphic for this argument
Do you think todays bigs could go toe to toe with Shaq, Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, Sabonis, etc?I made clear what my stance was.

What do you even mean by the other generation? LeBron’s best years were 2012-2020, KD same. TMac was before that, Wade’s best years before that. You said 2000’s. You’re adding together 2000’s and 2010’s. You gotta be consistent.
Bron carried the Cavs to the Finals in 2007. If you want to remove KD fine. What do you even mean by the other generation? LeBron’s best years were 2012-2020, KD same. TMac was before that, Wade’s best years before that. You said 2000’s. You’re adding together 2000’s and 2010’s. You gotta be consistent.
How did that TV contract negotiation go?The league is doing so well under Silver… I hope he stays another 10 years…![]()
Also, PG play is not better than it was in the 2010s when it was guys like Rose, Westbrook, Wall, Rondo with guys like CP3, Deron Williams, and Kidd still being high level players plus more. Two of the best guys on that list are still playing at an incredibly high level. It’s certainly deeper, and PG play is at an all time high as well.
