I'll go with Kim. Although I can only imagine what she will wear to accept it if she wins.
Something purpley I’d guess

If it's voted on now, I don't see how it's anyone but Kim's.
Agreed - although your coach wouldn’t be a bad choice, either. There are a few other top coaches like this, but one thing I admire about Tara is that she’s totally unafraid to lose early in the season if it gets the Card ready for March.

Mulkey has done a great job, no doubt. And, she is a tremendous coach. I think the turnaround is magnified because of what a terrible job coaching was being done by outgoing LSU coach, Nikki Fargas. Mulkey brought in 2-3 impact transfers? 2 are starters?
Kim herself brought in 2 Transfers. Morris and Gusters. Morris only starts. Nikki brought in Newby who starts.

Thanks. Wasn't sure of Newby's arrival time at LSU.

Fargas was consistently mediocre, but I think it's more Kim getting the most out of these kids rather than Fargas botching a really strong crop of players. This year's squad is essentially Nikki's roster plus Morris. None of LSU's core of Cherry, Aifuwa or Pointer were highly touted coming out of HS. Nikki wasn't a great coach but she wasn't terrible. LSU usually finished in conference about where most fans expected them to place. The success of LSU this year says more about Kim and the players on the team than it says anything negative about Vargas IMO.

Collen deserves mention. Didn’t they lose some players after Kim left? I remember reading that they were toast. She has the playing at a high level right now.
I think she has done a great job righting the ship and getting them playing at a high level but they did retain Nalyssa Smith, Egbo, Bickle. Lewis was added before Kim left (All SEC performer who averaged 17 PPG). Baylor doesnt lack talent by any means but they do not have the depth unfortunately so things could get chippy in a hurry in the NCAAT if Egbo or someone else gets into foul trouble.

Chrislyn Carr (former TTU player) transferred out after the coaching change, she would have been a very nice addition with Smith and Egbo inside. Rumors had it that Christianna Carr was heading there also before the coaching change. But the lack of depth really isnt Collen's fault, it is kind of an unfortunate string of events that can happen during coaching changes.

You say that like it’s a bad thing.

I would vote for a law requiring Kim to be the designated acceptor of all awards.
If you can't get that passed, maybe shoot for one that requires her at least to be present at all awards. She can accept the award or toss her jacket if she doesn't receive it.

. . .The coaching across WBB this year has been excellent and there are probably 5 or 6 coaches with legitimate NCOY cases. It comes down to splitting hairs. . .

I absolutely agree. I think any of the first three listed would be deserving. Finley won SEC coach of the year over Mulkey. I dunno if the panels for national COY have voted yet, but if not that could sway them away from Kim.

Dawn won SEC COY
Durn -- I saw that Finley had won it somewhere (I wonder about an off-brand award?). My bad.

ETA -- Finley was named SEC COY by USA Today.
