UConn: “Everyone knows Dan Hurley's on a mission and he’s bringing his best players along with him to do that and he’s definitely been getting them better. That’s certainly appealing to me as a player. The tenacity that his teams play with is something that will give someone like me or any other player a longevity in the NBA.”

41 points is wow
27 rebounds is something I haven't even heard of in ages
6 blocks is exceptional
Please tell me the other team could be considered competition
27 rebounds is a huge percentage of all rebounds unless every shot in the game was a miss
These numbers have my attention
Sort of reminds me of Roosevelt Bouie.

I’m not sure why the Kentucky coach being there matters. Like saying Iona coach was there. I don’t get the point.
I wish that were truly the case with UK and Duke. We shouldn’t be losing recruits to pope and scheyer but their brands have staying power. Hopefully it doesn’t last much longer. Self and KU is the only coach/program on our level.

I think the reason we will trail the other schools in recruiting is honesty. As you can see with Liam it takes a certain type player to want to commit to this environment.

We will lose our fair share using that strategy but I don’t think we will lose anything on the floor.

Not sure what that Flagg comment on how certain teams acted during the recruiting process was related too or if it was aimed at UConn, but stuff like that being said down the road by recruits that choose the easier path will be something that we will have to deal with. We won’t get our pick of the 5* litter each year but Hurley will get the right ones to commit.

Everything about us has always been so different than the traditional blue bloods…..I like the chip staying on our shoulder even when we get to 8,9 and 10 chips.

We are UConn…there is us and everyone else……we should be different.

I don’t think Danny is that stubborn. He’s adaptive and will flex where needed. He knows winning takes great talent and sometimes you do have to play the game to get the kids of choice. Case in point the Mullins quote where it was said UConn spoke to seeing him as a OAD. I just think when you’re out in today’s NIL world you have to position some necessary gamesmanship, or you’ll get left behind. He’ll be honest but also massage some sell and $$ where needed, for the right kid.

I'll bite. What is an OAD?

it's still early on in the NIL era and players/advisors are liable to make huge missteps pursuing short term goals. in the long run what UConn is doing, sticking to their guns and just establishing an expectation and standard even if it means going against prevailing culture will return good value, if they keep winning and developing NBA players.

You're being unfair to Danny accusing him of gamesmanship or even deceit. You can be sure if he said that, he'll do his best to make Mullins attractive to the NBA after one year, and he believes he has a realistic chance to get him drafted in the first round after one year.

If he builds up a track record of enabling top-30 kids to be one-and-done, watch out for him on the recruiting trail. Who wouldn't want to play for him? On the development side, that's the highest goal you can aim for, and we know Danny aims high.

I read where RuffRuff said "he'll be honest"
Take it easy Mrs Hurley, Danny has done good - he doesn't walk on water, but he has done really good

Nate Ament, SF
Uncommitted | No. 8 ESPN 100

Ament displays a sweet shooting stroke. He made 42% of his 3-pointers and averaged 4.8 attempts per game, according to Synergy Sports. He's equally effective off the catch and with his pull-up dribble. Ament is an accurate midrange shooter, although he doesn't attempt many and he's growing into his long frame, which has the attention of NBA scouts. His next step is learning to play through contact at the rim.

on3 drop on Ament

Five-Star Plus+ SF Nate Ament

While Nate Ament has been in the top ten for On3 for the better part of the year, his recruitment has recently exploded. I am told to expect Ament to take official visits with Kentucky, Louisville, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Georgetown, Kansas State, Duke, UNC, Oregon, Michigan, Texas, Virginia, and UConn. Yes, Ament has maintained with me, throughout the process, that he plans on visiting everyone.

With the extensive visit schedule, Ament has also maintained to me that he plans to sign during the Late Signing Period. While he has visit dates set, nothing has been made public yet. He has also not taken any official visits to this point. Sources close to the recruitment tell me that Duke and Virginia have done a really good job recruiting him up to this point. Those are the two schools he has been on campus with the most (in an unofficial capacity) and those are the coaches he is most familiar with.

Recruiting can be fluid, especially when players start to get on campuses, so pay attention to the visit dates as they start to come out.

Prediction: Duke
Confidence Level: 30%
Biggest Threat: Virginia

I'm starting to understand why coaches are retiring early.
