RB is not a true point. He is a scoring guard with a good handle and good feel for passing inside. Bazz is now in ths 2nd yr. Most teams didn't know him last year and he made quire a splash as Kemba's Robin. He is now the man and that in itself is daunting on a Big East team. That being said JC is the reason they are not running a 96ft game. That is not his style as yet. RB Bazz& JL though a potent 3 guard attack in the long court, there is always the D side that we must face and our size will put us at a distinct disadvantage. We need to get more out of Gif,DD, and RS for the 3 guard set to work.AO is still looking for the smelling salts and hopefully he will find tehm. We are dangerous but we need an identity. Look out in March and April.

Out of the 2400 shots taken last season Kemba took 739, Jeremy took 374 and Shabazz took 270. Alex took 302 (12.6%) and many of those were because he missed a bunny and had second and third chances on his own shots. Alex only shot .507 last season and that is not a very good shooting percentage for a player taking shots near the basket.

This season Alex has taken 83 out of the 867 shots for slightly under 10% of the shots. He is consistent in shooting just .506 of his shots. But his minutes are significantly less. The guards last season took well over 50% of the shots. This year the guards are shooting less than 50% of the shots with JL taking 210 shots, SN taking 160 shots and RB taking 73 shots.

Last season KW had 184 assists to 93 turnovers. SN had 124 assists and 75 turnovers and JL had 66 assists and 52 turnovers. Not much difference between the two seasons.

This season SN has 101 assists and 55 turnovers, RB has 35 assists and 19 turnovers and JL has 25 assists and 38 turnovers. This group of guards are shooting less and have about the same assist to turnover ratio as last years group. A big problem with turnovers comes from the front court and wings in which the assist to turnover ratio is abysmal. AD 9/26, AO 5/20 and RS 2/17. TO at 26/20 isn't bad, but NG 8/6 and DD 13/15 combined with JL numbers indicate not great playmaking from the wing position.

Of the bigs only AD is doing well with shot percentage at .617. AO is only at .506 and TO is only at .477.

My overall impression from all of this is that the problem is not coming from the guards.

This is really going to put stress on our guards. Probably going to have to distribute the minutes like this:

Bazz 35 min, Lamb 5 min
Lamb 30 min, Giff 5 min, DD 5 min
DD 20 min, Giff 10 min, Roscoe 10 min
AO 20 min, TO 15 min, Roscoe 5 min
AD 30 min, AO 10 min

Either way, it really hurts our offense not having Boatright's slashing/passing ability.

The problem isn't necessarily at the PG spot now, it's that the 2 guard spot really hurts. Now you have to play a guy like Daniels or Giffey or at the 2, and that really puts the pressure on Lamb.

Fleud. Great stat work. We need an IDENTITY. Who is UCONN this year. Last year we were Kemba and the boys. Who are we this year?

The sad thing is that all this changes with Ryan's absence. The one aspect UConn had that was pretty decent, the guard position, is now in serious jeopardy. Let's hope the Ryan thing is short lived. BTW, I expect UConn to win at ND. But that doesn't mean UConn isn't Dooomed!
