For your favorite non-uconn team, what play or moment is the most memorable or legendary? I'm leaning pro organizations but if you have a good one for another college program that you follow, go for it.

*try keeping this to teams you are a real fan of instead of steamrolling the thread and listing every big play you can think of for other teams.

1) The Rays-
sept 28th 2011. Evan Longoria home run to beat the Yanks in the final game of the year to advance to the playoffs. (That entire day in baseball was legendary)

2.The Broncos-
I'd say Elway's dive for the end zone against green bay in the super bowl surpasses any play from "the drive".

I spent 45 years as a Mets fan, 5 of which were after I moved to Pittsburgh. So '86 is huge, but it's not just one play. Game 6 vs the Astros and Game 6 vs Sox are burned into memory.

For one play, I'll go with one I witnessed live, and it's Cueto dropping the ball on the mound, then immediately giving up a HR to Russ Martin. I'd been to some wild moments at Shea when it there were 55K strong screaming at the top of their lungs, but little 38K PNC Park seemed even louder when that ball cleared the fence.

Mets - Beltran called strike 3 in 2006

Giants - David Tyree Helmet Catch in 2007

Knicks - Not much success in my lifetime, and not many standout moments from their most recent successful runs, so I'll go with Melo's 3 against the Bulls on Easter

Rangers - Derek Stepan's OT winner in 2014 to send them to the ECF

St. Peters run to elite 8 and one guard just hustles to the hoop for an alley-opp from the other guard. Against Purdue. And wins.

The commentary during that game was legendary. One announcer “they’re doing this with five subs”

My adopted local team in Jersey City.

Carlton Fisk. 12th inning game 6 of 1975 WS.
That the one for the Sox. Lots of others, but that stands out.

For Patriots - the Malcom Butler interception and 28-3 vs Atlanta. Can't choose between those two.

Edit: wasn't thinking college, but Danny Manning and the miracle run in 1988 counts for Kansas.

These. And the other side of the coin would be the "helmet catch" by David Tyree.

Dr J rock the cradle dunk against the Lakers in NBA finals.

40+ years later and still one of the most iconic plays in NBA history. Probably on Mt Rushmore of memorable NBA moments.

-Liverpool-Divock Origi Goal vs Barcelona to win the UCL Semi’s. “Corner Taken Quickly”
-Also, Origi’s goal vs Everton where the ball bounced off the top of the crossbar, last minute. He has had some incredibly clutch goals for us.

-Donovan game winning goal vs Algeria 2010 World Cup

-John Brooks goal vs Ghana as well

-Odell’s catch

-Stepan’s game winner in 2014

-Lebron’s block and Kyrie’s subsequent clutch 3. K. Love’s lockdown defense on Steph gets a shoutout here too.

-Kawhi’s shot vs the Sixers

I was a huge Pistons fan at the time. That Still hurts. Despair

Mets - Beltran called strike 3 in 2006

I almost posted this. It still bothers me today that he went out looking.

You can't do that. In the bottom of the 9th with runners on base you just can't take a called strike on a full count.

I'll never forget that game. They had a good team and we haven't been in that position since.

They may not be a franchise, but Team USA hockey killing the last few seconds in 1980, along with the famous call. Nothing of significance happens but the passage of time, but it may be our country's most definitive moment in team competition in Olympic history. I was only 5, and it gave me goosebumps, and I couldn't tell you why. As time has gone on, learning the history and events that led up to it, plus the world political situation, I get even more goosebumps know every time I see that moment.

Also, Flutie to Phelan to break the hearts of Hurricane fans everywhere.

Tyson Holyfield I think second fight in maybe the 10th round.

Tyson is punishing Holyfield and Holyfield bounces off a rope, takes a deep breath and gets an amazing second wind. He starts pummeling Tyson who's saved by the bell.

I have never seen a fighter take such punishment and almost come back from the dead like that

Also the middle or cruiser weight fight between Kevin Pompey and Tyrone Trice in the 90s was legendary.

Those two men fought toe to toe for about the last 6 rounds. The announcers kept saying this fight can't last at the pace they were going at each other.

That fight was incredible

As a Pats guy is that the trademark moment? To me it feels like Vinatieri’s kick in the snow that kind of set the dynasty in motion. It’s hard to beat the optics of that one.

Mets - Billy Bs ball through the legs with Gary C throwing his arms up. Not sure there is a more iconic moment than that in our WS lifetime. Gibson’s HR is a close second.

I know this is non UConn but so hard to think Tate’s last second shot doesn’t take it.

I've hated Beltran since that day.
