Watched game yesterday and was disappointed obviously in outcome. Offense did not do much and not only did defense bend, but it broke. Not giving up on team or HCBD. Thinking if we can get 1, maybe 2 more wins the season will be a step in right direction.

I coched a great deal of youth basketball ( 6 -8 grade). Used pretty much the same offense, defense and out of bounds plays every year . I had teams where we never won and got pounded to teams that went undefeated and we did the pounding.

So my hope is that HCBD does have the correct offensive and defensive schemes, but the problem is the players are still young and ( hate to say it) not as talented as we need them to be. Hopefully we can coach up / strengthen our young talent and continue to improve our recruiting.

Even though the AAC is not where we want to be, we need to improve drastically to compete with the upper echelon ( UH,temple,Memphi, Cinci ). Also if we ever get to a power 5 conference we need to strengthen all facets of football program to be competitive

I am with you. It is just depressing that schools in this same conference like Houston and. Memphis can experience coaching changes and not have to sink as far as the center of the earth and show moderate improvement (I would argue that yesterday's performance was not any better than last year) while they seem to be able to turn it around quickly. Since there have been so many seasons that have now past since edsall and we are mired what feels like a 4 win season or so.

The scary thing is the gap between us and the top not nationally but in AAC is still massive. After first drive of that game it was not even remotely competitive. Improvement can not be at a glacial pace...next year better be dramatic or rah rah bob will have lost even most loyal supporters.

I hear a former coach at Maryland is available and that he's no longer in dreamland.

Scotty, did you attend the last game at the Rent in 2013? If you did you would never have included Memphis in your statement as they looked far worse in that game than we did yesterday and did so against a much weaker opponent.

Reality one - until we get our offensive line fixed we will be inept on offense when facing a team that knows how to exploit that weakness.

Reality two - the defense that our staff wants to play needs more size and experience at end and at corner than we do have (we also need more discipline from our LB's and safeties than we had yesterday) before they can properly match up against an offense that has multiple top receivers, a QB with a quality arm and a mix of effective RB's.

Yes I was at game. That was my point they were dog poop a few years back and they made a quantum improvement while we are counting a win or two as progress....

Our Line is not only issue. We have receivers who can not catch....theme has been in place for what feels like forever up at state u. Our qb has trouble making decisive decisions and is late with the ball or doesn't go through his progressions quickly enough.

Our coach is a defensive mind...and you just went through our def back field and our linebackers as not being ready. So 2/3 of our defense needs more experience and size? None of those positions are that inexperienced. If size and talent was available at a younger age on roster you would see them play and you are not. Obi was supposed to be that guy or in the mold and clearly he is not.

So are we waiting for players to step up that are not even in a uconn uniform today?

Memphis was dog poop in Fuente's second season. Our CB's are tiny and of more importance, our veterans on defense have much of their experience under Brown's "solve your problems with aggression" defense which is the polar opposite in philosophy.

We are waiting for some players who did not see the field today and some that did who should be a bit developed, both physically and in their grasp of the defensive concepts.
