Nice move on their part. The remaining BE footbal schools need to announce they intend to leave the conference.

If they are sitting around hoping that Marinatto is going to fix this then they will end up left out. Leave the BE, join with what's left of the Big 12 under their banner and their BCS bid.

Nobody wants in the NBE 2.0. Nobody wants to take that baggage on board.

Nice read

  1. Trying to get the approval on a playoff game between C-USA nad MWC conference for an automatic-bid to the BCS.
  2. Wants TCU to stay.
  3. Would add 2 or 4 B-12 Leftovers and go to 12 or 14 teams
  4. Hopes to appear stable in the BE race to implode

The Big East can not wait forever for UConn, Rutgers or WVU to hit a Hail Mary either. At some point soon, we need to move forward with a Big 12/Big East merger or we risk catastrophe.

Still think the remaining BE schools should be on the horn w/ Beebe and UT, work it out where the 7 remaining B12's (assuming the Okie 2 are PAC bound) and 6 remaining BE's plus TCU come together under a B12 banner and go get the 2 most desirable remaining options (BYU, Boise, UCF, Houston, Temple, SMU, ECU, whoever). Even if one or all of UConn, RU, WVU, Mizzou, etc... Bolt for another conference, all should be working towards this in the interim. It is a stronger football league than the ACC, it is a good BB league, it keeps your BCS/Super Conference status, it's just not the most geographically desirable situation. If nothing else, it keeps every school in the league relevant. And, as I've posted before, you do invite ND for all other sports (not that they'd take it). It gives them presence in every corner of the country except the west coast.

I agree. Move forward

I think the Nate Silver article drove it home

The candidates for expansion into super conferences are WVU, Rutgers, Kansas and UConn. The ACC/SEC haven't reached a consensus and may not. The contracts are open with 14 teams. About the only reason to go with 15 is to fight over WVU and Boeheim pretty much telegraphed the ACC indecision over WVU or UConn to go with Rutgers if they expand at all.

If the BiG expands it will be 13 and take ND off the table. Rutgers for ballast is an outside shot. BYU is a non-factor unless the PAC needs a team and UCF is far and away the only non-BCS that.has a decent fan base. Not a BCS superconference fanbase. Louisville and Cincy are sure losers in this with UCF and USF looking better on paper.

UCF and USF together = 1 Rutgers.
Boise, Cincy, and Louisville together = 1 WVU.

That's UConn's threat right there. The SEC-14 and ACC-16 goes to RU and WVU leaving Kansas and UConn high and dry and the premier non-BCS teams along with BYU and the Irish Whale (BYU, UConn and Kansas = 1 Notre Dame).

Absolute garbage. No way does WVU even sniff an invite from the ACC. They're embarassed enough about FSU and NC State as it is. WVU has already acknowledged there's no interest from the ACC.
