Don't recall this being posted. The entire trophy presentation and net-cutting ceremony. 23 minutes long. Some really memorable moments here including an amazing Geno-Kelly heart-to-heart at about 9:05, Stef doing her Broadway routine, Kathy, Nona and The Den Mother orchestrating everything. Good stuff....

That was fun! I thought the network shortchanged us that night and this more than makes up for it. Couple - three small observations. Thought it was a stitch to see CD micromanaging the net cutting. As she directed MoJeff toward the ladder I think Moriah said: " I can't believe this." Steph will use any excuse to start breaking the moves ... and did so as she lead the conga line toward the second basket. Fun watching Kelly reject the straight piece of net in favor of a lower knot and strings - smart young lady. Thought it was funny how CD wanted the top loops from the back of the net. She failed and sent Geno after them. He failed...so she sent a young man in a blazer up to get them! Loved seeing Geno's mom in a champions cap. Touched to see a certain former player coach (with great gold high heels) wipe away a tear or three on the podium. Geno's ticker tape thrashing after he descended the ladder was testament to the great relationship he has with this team.

The CD micromanagement is hilarious...from afar. I guess there's a right way to do everything, including cutting down the nets. Her instruction was not limited to the players, managers, etc.; she even told Warde Manuel what to do. Geno said at the final four that CD has not wavered one iota from how she was the first day of practice in 1985. I believe him.

I love how the players feel so comfortable messing with Geno's hair and then helping him fix it.

I've seen that a bunch of times because they played it at home games. What strikes me about it is how Geno is one of those rare people who truly understands that good is the enemy of great. This fact manifested itself in a quote I've read a couple of times, in which he indicated that his enduring feeling after losing in the 1991 national semifinals was not elation for a significant program milestone (ie the first trip to an F4), but rather the fear of not getting back.

I don't think Geno fears failure as much as he fears success, or rather the complacency and contentment that success can bring. And that's why he continues to succeed.
