Reading through the Sopranos thread and "Don't Stop Believin'" was brought up as a instant association with final scene.

That's true for me too.

Not counting theme songs or musical/music movies, a few others. Not judging them for good or bad, but every time I these songs, I think of the movie.

Journey "Any Way You Want It"- Caddyshack
Bob Seger "Against The Wind"- Forrest Gump
Skynyrd "Tuesday's Gone"- Happy Gilmore
Stones "Monkey Man"- Goodfellas

Obviously "Baby Blue"/Breaking Bad and "Thus Spake Zarathusa"/2001 A Space Odyssey.

The ones I associate with Goodfellas are "Jump Into the Fire" and "Atlantis" (which was such an odd choice for that scene).

I'll add "Fisherman's Blues" at the opening of Waking Ned Divine.

Great thread topic.

First ones that come to mind for me:

"American Girl" and "Moving in Stereo," Fast Times at Ridgemont High (I realize many people associate "American Girl" with Silence of the Lambs, but Fast Times is my immediate association with it).

"Man in Me," The Big Lebowski.

"Also sprach Zarathustra," Being There.

"Eye of the Tiger," Rocky III.

"Shout," "Shama Lama Ding Dong," Animal House.

"You Can't Always Get What You Want," The Big Chill.

"Everybody's Talkin'," Midnight Cowboy.

"Gimme Shelter," Apocalypse Now.

Great example there.

Good topic.

I'm Shipping Up to Boston - The Departed

Constant Sorrow - O Brother Where Art Thou

Dream On - Miracle

What a Wonderful World - Good Morning Vietnam

Circle of Life - Lion King

Twist and Shout - Ferris Bueller Day Off

Goodfellas is in the movie soundtrack Hall of Fame. but I associate the coda of "Layla" to it the most.

"Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" - The Big Lebowski

"One Vision" - Iron Eagle

"It's so Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday" - Lethal Weapon 3

"Neutron Dance" - Beverly Hills Cop ("Axle F" was written specifically for it)

"Afternoon Delight" - PCU (No, not Anchorman or Good Will Hunting).

"Big Empty" - The Crow

"One" - Johnny Got His Gun (For obvious reasons though it was not on the soundtrack)

"Black Betty" - Blow

"In Your Eyes" - Say Anthing

"Can't Stop this Feeling" - Trolls (Parents will get this one, as well as, "When Can I See You Again?", but that was written specifically for Wreck it Ralph.)

"Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" - Conspiracy Theory

"When I Grow Up (To be a Man)" - Look Who's Talking

Good list and super cool topic but "Tuesday's Gone" takes me right to Dazed and Confused. Weird how one song can take different people to different movies instantly. Other posts have good ones too. Especially love the "One Vision" for Iron Eagle.

Some additional:

"Sister Christian" - Boogie Nights
"Sweet Emotion" - Another Dazed and Confused. Love that opening with that song and the GTO.
"Ride of the Valkyries" - Apocalypse Now
"Don't You Just Know It" - Bronx Tale
"Bird is the Word" - Full Metal Jacket
"You Could Be Mine" - Terminator 2
"Mele Kalikimaka" - Christmas Vacation

Hipster alert! Lol I'm just kidding.

"Hearts On Fire" and "There's No Easy Way Out" - Rocky IV
"You're the Best Around" Karate Kid

I have to confess that I don't have these associations for 90% of these songs. In some cases I've not seen the movie. In others I listened to the song for years before the movie came out. Where that happens, I'm not going to associate the song with the movie.
So here's a list that I truly associate with the move, aside from the one mentioned. I think several were done for those movies.

Footloose...obviously
Danger Zone - Top Gun
Eye of the Timer - Rocky #whatever
American Girl - Fast Times at Ridgemont High
I'm All Right - Caddyshack
Everybody's Talking at Me - Midnight Cowboy
Fisherman's Blues - Waking Ned Devine
Shout - Animal House

But songs like Tuesday's Gone I had head 500 times before Happy Gilmore came out. I didn't even know Against the Wind was played in Forest Gump, but again, I'd heard it hundreds of times before the movie.

I specifically left off songs that were written/performed for the movie. Otherwise there is "Grease", "Footloose","Almost Paradise","Power of Love","Back in Time","Ghostbusters", and a whole host of other songs that made the Top 40, appearing only on soundtracks.

Holiday Road (Vacation)
I Got a Name (Django Unchained)
Layla (Goodfellas)
In Your Eyes (Say Anything)
Stuck in the Middle With You (Reservoir Dogs)
Don't You Forget About Me (Breakfast Club)
Day-O (the Banana Boat Song) (Beetlejuice)

I associate American Girl with Silence of the Lambs more than Fast Times just because the scene was more memorable in the former. The song I associate with Fast Times is Somebody's Baby by Jackson Browne

"Freebird" (Elizabethtown)
"Sweet Child O Mine" (Captain Fantastic)
"Cruel To Be Kind" and "I Want You To Want Me" (10 Things I Hate About You)
"Jingle Bell Rock" (Mean Girls)
"So Long and Thanks For All The Fish" (Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
"Ordinary World" (Layer Cake)
"Relax" and "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go" (Zoolander)
"Indian Love Call" (Mars Attacks!)

Then my list becomes very short indeed.

When I started this thread I knew there was an obvious one for me that I was forgetting.

American Girl- Fast Times.

I didn't even know there was any debate about Fast Times v. Silence of Lambs until Petty died. No brainier for me.

I thought about Danger Zone, Eye of the Tiger and a few others but considered them Sound track songs rather songs in the movie.

Love the Layla coda in Goodfellas. Perfect for those scenes but I have a few associations for that song beyond the movie.

And yes, Kenny Logging lives comfortably off royalties from his 1980's sound tracks. Dude crushed it for a decade.

It's not just song associated with the movie, it's when I hear American Girl I think Fast Times.

Truth be told I do it for Kashmir too. Kashmir comes on and think of the tape being played in the car. Five point plan fail.

14. Led Zeppelin, 'Kashmir' in 'Fast Times at Ridgemont High' (1981)

Not on Led Zepplin IV!

Everyone noted that when we watched the movie the first time. Everyone. It's part of the reason I too associate it with Fast Times.

I'll add another. Old Time Rock n Roll with Risky Business.
