Freshman Destiny Brown has been released from the team for violating unspecified team rules. Must have been a big violation to get the ax this early in her career.

Can't find any mention of it in the news or on the website. (. . .Though, apparently, another Destiny Brown from Pennsylvania has been arrested for murder: yikes!)

OK-- upon further review, I see this on Twitter: David Smoak@DavidSmoak
"Sources have confirmed Baylor guard Destiny Brown has been dismissed from the Lady Bears roster for violation of team rules."

FYI she was a 4-star recruit rated 92 by HG, but not inside their top 100. Bummer for her that she did something so egregious that Kim had to release her from the team...

A blown opportunity for a player that was reported to be playing great defense and shooting the 3 well in practice.

Better to make the adjustment early than in mid season. Cutting losses.

Maybe shoulda changed her name to "Density"?

It's odd that you should mention this.

Though I've forgotten which edition it was, about 30 years ago the authoritative Merriam-Websters Collegiate Dictionary included this phrase in defining some recently discovered cosmic phenomenon (I'm guessing it was a black hole) - "... and of infinite destiny."

I haven't seen a dictionary yet that didn't have some typo or other screwup, but this is the only one I've seen featuring an anagram.

That might be it.

I have it on good authority that after the Griner nose-flattening episode, murder was added to the Baylor list of wbb team rule violations.

I guess Baylor now has an extra 2013 scholly to offer...not exactly sure where they stood before this but I think the timing VERY interesting!

I don't think there is anything untoward about the timing of it - not sure if you are implying that Baylor "got rid" of her to make room for another player or not.

Baylor had 13 scholarship players this year, and 5 are seniors. They can now sign 8, and have 2 verbals so far.

"Got rid of" maybe too strong...a "convenient excuse" to do so after KM got a "free look" at her and determined that some better options in the 2013 class were still available is more likley. To me, Baylor joined the race late for some of the marquee 2013 recruits that may not have necessarily been on their radar previously. This can only hurt schools like Tenn and others who desperately need one or more 2013 studs.

This seems highly speculative and somewhat irresponsible without having any background as to what has actually transpired.

I agree that it is an utterly irresponsible to imply that Kim spent all that time recruiting a player and then within the first frew weeks of practices decided to send the girl packing just to open up some roster spots for better players. There is nothing convenient about this as it will leave Baylor a little thin at guard next year since we lose Madden and Hayden.

Baylor has been recruiting the same players from the start that everyone else has been recruiting. Which players are you indicating that Baylor started recruiting late in the process? I've not heard of any late-add targets. Baylor has many scholarships to give, even with Brown on the team. We lose 5 players (BG, Williams, Pope, Madden and Hayden) and only have two verbals for 2013. We are hardly maxed out on schollies.

I don't think Destiny will be the last transfer either. I like Kim, but it seems to me she is doing the sme thing that Tenn. was doing. I call it Blind Recruiting with no rhyme or reason. Too many superstars, and not enough minutes, and not enough balls.

You have no idea what happened. This had nothing to do with basketball ability. Kim has no players to replace her with and this puts Baylor at a deficit at the guard position next year unless Kim signs some more players.

Prince is the highest ranked player that Baylor had coming in this year and she was not even top 10 according to most experts (I disagree). So please tell me which Superstars she would have been making room for by dismissing Brown.

Rumor is that there was unauthroized use of another sudent's credit card.
