Never most likely - but I wouldn't blame him now for opening his mouth before he closes his wallet again.

Anywhere else in the country where people really care about college football the media would have been flocking to talk to him at the end of last season and after Town-son. Here in Connecticut, not so much.

I think he'll get some airtime in the media eventually considering some in the media come here for ideas.

When will all the Boneyarders who told him to shut up come out and say they were wrong.

It was possible for him to be entirely right but still go about it in the wrong way. Since P was not even on the radar as a choice for me I'm comfortable repeating that. Our media should want to hear from him and if he wants to comment about being right he should.

This whole season is an absolute disaster. The past two seasons haven't been much better. I don't think Mr Burton is gloating in the fact that the school that he has donated millions of dollars to is a sinking ship. But I definitely see him or other donors making strong financial statements to Warde if he has any inkling of bringing back this coaching regime for year 4.

Dont know if he's still interested, but I would assume that Burton would rather have influence than gloat. So a 'victory' would be if he gets included early in the search next time. Gloating now - effectively kicking someone when they're down - would lessen that chance.

No he shouldn't. This isn't his fault...in fact, he warned against it.

Thats just dumb

Exactly. If I'm in his position I'm taking joy in the fact that I can get the guy I didn't even want here in the first place out. If I'm him, I'm sitting in Warde's office every day until someone else is named interim.

P has ruined something that he [Burton] obviously wanted to help build. I'm 100% jumping at the chance if I possibly could.

Let's not make Burton a hero here. Was he right that P wasn't up to the job -- sure he was, but so was I and so were many others here. The truth is that Burton's entitled temper tantrum may very well have caused hathaway to feel like he had to hire P or be ceding control of the program.

He still should have shut up.

I don't think he ever would do that. Remember he was vilified when he sent the letter to Hathaway. However, his letter was the "canary in coal mine" for us. But we wanted to give Pasqualoni a chance because we wanted UConn football to succeed. It is now clear Burton was right, but his message got destroyed by its delivery. It did occur to me at the time that anybody who gave over $7mm to UConn would not say thing calculated to hurt the football program in any way. Thus, I was very concerned when he went out on the hook with his strong dissent. We now know why. I don't think anyone was more passionate about UConn than him. I bet he is not happy with the accuracy of his position on PP. Further, I bet he is sad that he was so damn accurate.

The fact that he was right doesn't preclude him from being an obnoxious blowhard.

Mr. Burton is a hero. Nobody has put more of their own money into the program than Mr. Burton.

And let's not forget, it wasn't Mr. Burton who took the affair public, it was self-serving disaster of an AD Jeff Hathaway who preemptively called out Mr. Burton in the press publicly embarrassing him. Burton defended himself -- and rightly so. Once Hathaway called him out in the press, what choice did he have?

And Mr. Burton was right. I never understood the animosity that was directed toward Mr. Burton. It always felt to me that it was just an excuse for a bunch of Connecticut liberals to spew venom at a rich guy. All the hated directed his way was largely about his wealth and who does he think he is? IMHO, he is not only a hero, he deserves an apology.

He was watching a slow motion train wreck!

Yea, he could have worked the back channels with his displeasure, but he knew stuff we didn't. Let's face it; we were all upset with the "lazy" hiring efforts of Hathaway - $50k to some consultant, wait a week and hire the most likable retread availablee. We all still wanted PP to succeed because we love the Huskies, but Burton couldn't contain himself because of his peculiar knowledge of what we were getting into. Let's get the focus off of Burton! The problem is that the program is at risk to slip beneath the waves if something doesn't change now.

Why gloat - he was a , but he was right. Now, he sits back and smiles knowing this mess is not on him.

My guess is with all of the athletic fundraising going on at Storrs that he and the AD have had conversations alluding to the status of the FB program. He's in the position where he can sit back and have the AD come to him, hat in hand. If included in the thinking and process, I am sure he will reciprocate.

Unlike others, I abhor making decisions without an answer or on someone else's timeline. I have confidence in the administration to deal with the issue timely and effectively. I thought reacting to Calhoun's childish antics as to hiring KO would have been wrong and I also don't think reacting to the mob without having a clear cut plan as to which direction one is headed in, would be equally wrong.

I don't give Hathaway that much credit. I think he chose to listen to McHugh over Burton.

There are a number of parents of former GHS players that swear that, while friendly and outgoing, Burton was never obnoxious or even self-important. He was comfortable being just another football parent; in this case, the parent that donated the turf field and, maybe, the lights. He put three or four players through the GHS program. It is pretty well known that Burton discreetly, quietly donates a ton of money to many charities; many of which have nothing to do with football.

Palatine is correct. The famous letter was not intended for public distribution. It should have stayed between Burton and Hathaway. By going to the press, Hathaway showed he was fighting out of his weight class and really jeopardized UCONN's relationship with a primary donor. God knows what SH had to do to get Burton back on board.
