Mount Rushmore Now Clear

Maybe we stop discussing the Mt Rushmore and start discussing the UConn pyramid, or something? I mean we are so blessed to have had so many greats. 12 NC's builds on the university legacy, but the greats who have played here - several programs can point to some truly incredible players, especially Tennessee, but UConn leads all of them by a country mile...

Definitely not Maya Moore. I’d say Paige > Bird by a clear margin looking at collegiate career only. To be honest I’d probably put Jefferson > Bird looking at college career only. I think Moriah’s college career is sorely underrated by many UCONN fans.
I disagree based on Bird’s role in the 2000 and 2002 championships, which was central. Admittedly, it’s harder to assess her because of the greatness of her teammates.

Who earns that distinction now? Contenders would be:

-Megan Walker
-Crystal Dangerfield
-Aaliyah Edwards
-Christyn Williams
-Kerri Bascom
I have to go with Kerri Bascom first final four in our history

We have the Great Pyramid. She has 3 years of eligibility left.

I'm still thinking Paige ain't there. Lots of fanfare but Sue Bird says "Howdy."

I get it, tho. Paige just won a Title.
Sue in college is not Paige. It's not close!

you're high! Maya is 1. Top 10 in EVERY statistic! Nobody comes close. AND she could defend all 5 positions!
And as far as underrated UConn players, its Collier & Charles.

I was saying you definitely couldn’t leave Maya off UCONN’s Mt Rushmore

Mt. Rushmore is Maya, Stewie, Diana and Paige.....full stop. Sarah might eventually move Paige out...
Yeah, I don’t think so. There’s just going to have to be five if Sarah lives up to what we’ve seen in her first year. All of them are there for a variety of reasons (as they should be), mostly however, it is titles and winning. By titles, Paige is last of those four but imo she is the better player over all of them except (perhaps) Maya! They all belong there and the expected arrival of Sarah in three years will not change that. They will simply have to make room for a fifth!

Maya is on the MT. Rushmore..

There are only 3 people that should be there right now...

Maya, Stewart and Diana...
This list is for players who really had no weakness in their games....

Maya and Stewart had no weakness and I would only add Diana because she was able to carry a team of role players to 2 more championships during her junior and senior seasons..

Diana was not unstoppable like Maya or Stewart but she belongs here because she made everyone else play better than they were...

Larry Bird and Magic Johnson were great players but they are not on the Mt. Rushmore with Michael Jordan...

Sara will probably get there because I don't see any weakness in her game. Like Stewart and Maya she can do everything on a basketball floor....That is rare... I think Ju Ju Watkins has this ability too...

But nobody else does...

I also agree that Mo Jefferson was completely underrated by Uconn fans. I believe she was the best point guard in Uconn history by a mile.

Connecticut is way too storied a program to be limited to four. There are reasonable arguments for Taurasi, Moore, and Stewart for number 1, who are probably the top three, and several reasonable candidates (including Bird and Paige) for number four. There aren't any completely objective criteria for ranking them, and for a number of players (including but not limited to Ralph, Bird, Abrosimova, Bueckers, and Fudd) it's hard to compare their careers to players who were comparatively injury-free. For example, how would you have ranked Abrosimova if she had not been injured, and instead led Connecticut to a second straight championship, and potentially been player of the year (she was widely regarded as neck-and-neck with Catchings in early 2001 before both were hurt)?

Can't have 5 or it wouldn't be Mt Rushmore

Come on now, we need, "7 Wonders of the World". Forget Mt Rushmore.
Yeah, but look at all the discussion about who is #4. Can you imagine the debates over who is #5, #6, and #7?

This^^^ Why are we forcing our greats into a paradigm where only 4 get recognized?!

Let Mount Rushmore remain a monument to long-dead presidents. UConn WBB is different.

I wouldn't call it "clear". But with winning a NC (and a 2nd NPOY), Bueckers can now be in the discussion. She's still a little short of the other 3, but does make up some ground with the efficiency of the games she did get to play. However, there is still the "availability" aspect of being on the Mt.

DT,Maya and Stewie each won 2 or more Naty's and 2 or more Naismith POY awards..that would exclude Paige

Paige was the clear leader, made 4 Final Fours, won NPOY awards in 2 separate seasons, and was 3rd in career points and 1st in points per game. Nice resume!

As DT said none of that matters..it's the national championships
BTW..JUJU won the NPOY award from ESPN..AP..an NAISMITH so she's considered the NPOY from most circles
