Spelling error in the title. (bangs head)
As of noon yesterday, Morrone Stadium was covered in snow and UConn had an upcoming tournament game set for this week, so students took action. Members of UConn's goal patrol, worked relentlessly on shoveling snow off the field, despite having to do it a certain was as told by the Turf people (who take care of it). The turf people said to shovel off snow in parts toss it over the fences, then shovel snow in other parts and it spread it around the open areas to melt. This was happening while the turf people (one or 2 of them) were very ineffectively using snow blowers (which was happening today as well). Today I got up nice and "early" 830AM, had a quick breakfast and went down to the field where the was only one other member of GP (who was actually there BEFORE the turf people were, and they get paid by the way). Later on, the 2 team assistants came by to help clear out, as did 2 other members of goal patrol. Not to mention the assistant coaches were hard at work getting all the snow off the field, not spreading it 0ut. We did what we wanted to get it off as easily as possible by shoveling the snow to the sidelines and making huge piles there. most of it went over the fence.
Long story short, Morrone is clear of snow and our boys have a huge Big East game to play on Thursday! Please be there if you can, and BE LOUD. We did not have good showings at all during last season's tournaments(Big East and NCAA) games.
