Okay now I am officially excited. I just noticed that Morgan Tuck is one of the three women in the three point contest. This must hopefully mean she is a good three point shooter.... especially since she is in the contest over Hartly and Jefferson.

Does anyone know about her ability from behind the arc? Is she going to be knocking in treys? Who else is good behind that arc? I know KML is good as is Bria.... I thought I read Stewart was good from distance. Who knows what? Please share

Yeah, I remember Morgan winning a 3-point contest, just couldn't remember which one, thanks Mike.
Isn't it fascinating that the UConn woman's BB is being represented by 2 freshmen!

Well, to be fair, no other players on the women's team can dunk so it's not surprising that Bree, as the only female who can, is representing at the super show.

I'm not sure how many there are in the 3-point contest, but I could see them choosing from Caroline, Bria, KML, Morgan or Bree. Will be interesting to see who has the best % after KML this year. :) I think KML will be the best by far, but it will be fun to see who comes in 2nd. My guess would be Bria...

Bree can do it all;) She wont be in the 3 pt contest, but she is good enough to be! I have seen that Morgan is one of the participants! The fact that many are not aware of the multi talents of this young woman is consistent with,as GOOD as she is,she remains under the radar! Yes,she can shoot the three also:) One would have to surmise that KLM will participate;) I don't know how many are in the contest! If there are 2 it is Morgan and KML! If 3 one might think Bria, but it could be CD for a # of reasons!

Is it time to get EXCITED;)

I don't know this for a fact, but I would be willing to bet that before she leaves UCONN Stef will stuff one. She is a true 6'5, and as hard as she works her body, and loses weight she has 2 years left to show us. I don't want her losing TOO much weight though. She already has opposing players looking all over for her. Just hoping they don't run into her. Oh I can't wait to see the first one she puts in la la land. lol

Kaleena is the BEST 3 point shooter in bball, men's or women's. That release ! a split second and it has left her hand. Now that she uses the shot fake so well she is going to be even better. As simple as the shot-fake sounds, players would be so much better if they utilized it more often.
GO UCONN!

All apologies to Penn St. and Maggie Lucas.... close but no cigar !

I still refuse to believe that Morgan was the 15th best player in her class. Or eighth. Or even sixth. I think that she is in the group with Breanna, Moriah, and Alexis Jones at the top of the 2012 group.

She was #1 (named Freshman of the Year) in her class before tearing her ACL after her freshman season during USAB U16 Trials.

I remember that. Morgan may have lost a little explosiveness, but she is still really, really good. [Note the use of "really" twice, a la Geno.]

Morgan Tuck is as polished as any freshman ever at UCONN. IMHO I believe when it is all said and done I believe she will have the best yearend numbers of all the freshmen.

Absolutely agree with you Milford! ASGR had her #4! Was it Parade? that had her 1st team 5 players AA! What I have been saying that inspite of her fantastic return from the injury during the the USA 16 Trials<she was ranked #1 at the time> her SO,JR, SR seasons,USA 17 and 18 member gold medalist and was fantastic at the 18 games ! There were those who believed she was the MVP which went to teammate Bree Stewart;),

She has somehow been under the radar as to how good and elite she is! Some reporters and Coaches have publicly stated this! She is going to be an impact player from her FR Year on! I would not be at all surprised that before her UCONN Career is over that she is an AA,ist team, Big East ist team,a Wade Candidate and a high draft ist round. We got a gem!

I still think Stewart will have the best numbers but I agree that Tuck brings more polish and maturity than any freshman has in a long time

Per JA, KML wins the 3-pt contest with a score if 20 pts. CDoty had 16 and Morgan 14.

P.S. Kaleena finished with 11 seconds to spare....!

All great news. If Doty has her legs under her, that could bode well for this season. And if KML can shoot a 20 that rapidly, that's huge. A 14 isn't a bad showing either.

According to Kiah, making shots is "her job." Shouldn't she be good at it?!

Wow. I would have thought you were the one out there doing the dunks based on your reaction.

She must have been trying to go for too much ..... she put a couple of 'vanilla' dunks through at the McD game and it didn't look too hard for her. Not sure quite what happened tonight...!

Nope not at all. You think she wasn't embarrassed? You think she thought she was going to make her dunks? Try again.

Let me put it this way: if she could shoot like that consistently in games, UConn would never lose. Ever.

Not saying she will- but if she could...

True - 20 pts is a very good score as you have to make between 15 and 20 shots out of 25, or between 60% and 80%. This assumes they have the 2-pt "money ball" as the last ball in each rack.

She won't do 60% in games but the fact that she tallied 20 pts that quickly and (likely) didn't tire toward the end is downright scary!! (Difficult to score 20 if you don't make at least some shots from the last rack.) Dare we hope for 45%+ this year......??

I don't think I've ever seen anyone finish a regular 3-pt contest with more than 2-3 seconds to spare. Leaving 11 seconds on the clock is one way to 'throw it down' in front of your competition.

The more I think about it, the more I am impressed with Caroline's 16 pts as well, because you need to keep some spring in your legs throughout all five racks to have a good score. This may be another small indicator that her athleticism is indeed on the upswing as the horde has been reporting......

That's actually a great point. She will probably never be in the WNBA or play hoops after she graduates (professionally), but I'm so hoping she has a great senior season - personally, and team-wise. She's been thru a ton and deserves it!
