nothing really earth shattering, but a really great explanation of UCONN's recruiting philosophy.

One subtle point: in an ideal world, you would get classes of 3, 4, 3, and 4. That yields a roster of 14, bigger than we thought Geno wanted.

What was CD doing when visiting with Mercedes Russell? Evaluating her talent? Finding out if she had any interest in UConn? Other?

By the way, who is that fabulously svelte looking kid in the photo over the article?

Random thought, connecting 2 quotes in my head:

Sue on Diana: She is stronger than she realizes.

Caroline on Kaleena: She is stronger than she realizes.

I like that thought.

My guess is CD checked in with Russell's coach to gauge her interest before making the trip. Sounds like the answer was the door's open; the trip shows UConn's interest.

BTW, after visiting Russell's school in OR, I'm told CD was seen in Cali watching the Samuelson sisters and 2014 pg Jordin Canada.

Gauging interest before flying 3,000 miles makes sense.

Both Samuelsons? The third one is supposed to be the best one.

We need a kid from Canada. Or named Canada.

Was CD also seen sharing a Diet Coke with Eric? :)

"I believe in my heart that most kids have a sense of where they may want to go well before the end of their junior year," Dailey said. "They don't let the process recruit them. They find the place."

CD and I are on the same page... :) and I say "verbal and get it over with"!

Yes, Katie Lou is reportedly the best of the Samuelson sisters. I think UConn would take both as would a bunch of other schools.

Oh, Canada is currently ranked #4 by HG for c/o 2014.

sadly (from my perspective), she did not make it all the way down to san diego. not much talent all the way this far south...

Katie Lou?? That is not an Orange County name!!

What year is KL?

Ok, our 2014 class is Sierra Calhoun, Breanna Turner, and Jordan Canada. Done. Let's move to 2015. :)

It's just nice to hear it in her own words.
Stories like this keep us thinking about the level of commitment and non-stop drive the coaching staff needs to keep a program at this level. There are not many people in any profession that are so dedicated.
