Amazing how a guy that was such an elite athlete and from outside appearances, is still in great shape for a guy that's almost 60 could run into so many health issues. Maybe, I'm forgetting.. but I don't remember ever hearing stories of unhealthy living habits from him. Hope this is the end of it for him and sunny skies ahead

Right, but I mean.. it's not like he's got 8 toes because he ate McDonalds 3 times a day and drank a 12 pack of Coke and got diabetes. Like he just seems like a guy that always took care of himself and somehow still got dealt a crappy hand health wise.

The issues with his toes relate to turf toe injuries that he played on throughout his career

It's much more than that. It's compartment syndrome that caused him to have his toes amputated and which almost caused his leg to be amputated. He's had something like a dozen surgeries, he has a serious blood clotting issue which seems to be familial in his case.
