Some encouraging items here:
  • Geno says freshmen Kiah Stokes and Brianna Banks will get a lot of playing time for#UConnwomenagainst Providence
  • Geno intent on increasing the number of times center Stef Dolson gets the ball. She's taken just 100 shots in 14#UConnwomengames
  • KML says she just "blanked out " at times at Notre Dame and vows never to do that again for the#UConnwomen
  • Kelly Faris apparently spoke her mind in the locker room after the loss at Notre Dame. The#UConnwomenhave found their leader
  • No one takes the game more seriously or plays it harder than Kelly Faris.#UConnwomenwill benefit looking to her for leadership
  • KML on her play at NDame: "I had too many turnovers, not strong with the ball. Not a freshman mistake, lack of toughness."
  • KML: "I let my teammates down and that should never happen again." #UConnwomen
  • KML: "I don't know why that happened, but I blanked out, zoned out. I don't know why that happened."
  • KML: "I expect a lot from myself and when I don't before the way I should, it really hurts."

I don't know that vocal leadership comes naturally to Kelly, but I'd be impressed and overjoyed if she's get out of her comfort zone and become that kind of figure on the team. Agree with John A that in terms of effort, she's as good as it gets.

And these on KML:

KML: "I don't know why that happened, but I blanked out, zoned out. I don't know why that happened." #UConnwomen

KML on her play at NDame: "I had too many turnovers, not strong with the ball. Not a freshman mistake, lack of toughness."

Last quote from KML is perfect. She put it on herself and isn't going to use her relative inexperience at the college level as an excuse not deliver what the team needs from her. Good stuff.

It was tough out there. She had never faced the intensity level before and with so much on the line. If it was going to happen I rather it happen early in the season. KML still our girl.

Listening to Faris the past 2 weeks, I think she is readyto take over this team; I certainly hope so. Can you imagine if everyone on this team played with her intensity?
