Tuck at 4 is very risky, given her knee history. Last year she was relatively healthy, but this year she seems to be struggling with the same knee again.
I agree at #4 that's too risky. I would expect Phoenix at #8 might be more willing to take the risk.

One would think Stewart at #1 is a no-brainer, but Seattle has to, at some point, groom Sue Bird's successor. Looking down the chart, though, makes it all but impossible to pass on Stewart. Regardless of need, Seattle has to take Stewart.

True. Seattle's already stated they will take Stewart #1.

Phoenix would be interesting. If they are in a full "win now" mode due to the age of Diana, Penny, and Candace then Tuck might actually make sense. Her long term expectations aren't good but she can likely step right in and spell Candace and BG in key moments.

Will Seattle make a bold move (not giving up Stewie) for the 2nd pick?

Tuck won't last past the Mystics at #7. I don't think Jonquel Jones last past the Mystics at #7 either but she is injured right now. It would be an interesting choice between the two.

I don't think so. . San Antonio would be better off looking for other trade partners. I don't see Seattle trading Loyd. San Antonio would not interested in a package of other Seattle players. If the team wishes to trade the pick, San Antonio would be better off looking for other trade partners.

San Antonio is in an interesting quandary. Do you take Moriah when you have needs in other positions and currently have Danielle Robinson at point? If you do, do you keep both or trade one?

I think SA keeps Danielle and either drafts another of the top players or draft and trade moriah. If they draft another player, like Mitchell, the Sun will be very, very, happy.

As much as I like/admire Madison "Maddie" Cable, she has had chronic issues with her feet. Apparently, increasing her minutes from supersub to starter has increased the wear and tear on them (she missed her frosh season due to them). So, as much I'd like to think any team could use a hit of Maddie-ball, I'm not so sure this is in the cards...even projected in the third round.

I think Courtney Williams of South Florida deserves to be a high first round draft choice. She is amazing. Jillian Ayllene also deserves to go in the first round. That young lady was a beast when Oregon played UConn some time ago.

I feel or Morgan Tuck. So sad to see such a young lady plagued by chronic pain. If she leaves UConn at the end of the season, I certainly won't fault her. She needs to take care of her health, first and foremost. I hope she has a long career, and avoids further injury. This member is behind her, whatever she decides.

The bigger question is whether Tuck will last a full season in the WNBA with her knees.

Unfortunately, I think the answer to that question is fairly clear and comes right out of Morgan's mouth - she has an old lady knee - and the need to take 4 games off starting this past January. I would not use a high draft pick on Morgan. A bad bet.

Bingo. The WNBA is much harder on players than college. I guess if she really has WNBA aspirations she needs to leave while her knee is still OK. But I still think she's better off sticking around for another year, finalizing her masters, and then heading off into the sunset...!

Boy, her tough choice is getting even more difficult. With issues apparent this year her WNBA stock has dropped already. Should she go and play wherever and however she can? Tough to go with an irritated knee right into WNBA following the college season. And she may not get her AA status this year. But waiting might mean she never gets there at all if there is a worse injury.
Or does she hope that she can rest over the summer and do a carefully managed college season next year? She has said she is considering coaching, so a great opportunity to learn more from the staff as well as get more academic credits. Maybe she could get her AA status next year.
Of course we don't know the details of her knee problems. Is it likely to continue to deteriorate? Are there other treatment options? Is there an increased risk of a catastrophic injury? Or is it more of pain and stiffness management?

Stupid knees! (My dog has an vet appointment for his knee issue today! Ugh!)

Her draft stock has not dropped. Curt Miller of the Sun yesterday said it is a legit possibility, if she comes out, of UConn players going 1-2-3.
