Wow, Espinoza-Hunter having her best game in a very long time.

She has 7 points, and the PBP person just said she had 7 points total over their past 7 games.

Wouldn't that be 3 years?

Really, MSU has been incredibly consistent.

Yeah, my math was off. We are consistent yeah. This type of game is strange considering Arkansas scored 103 against Kentucky.

OMG consecutive blown layups by MSU that would've cut the lead down even further.

the worst game we played since Tennessee 2017. Hard to imagine it's been 2 years since we've been that bad.

May be a little bit extreme. MSU is a good team that got smacked in the mouth today on the road. This is one of the issues with having a young group with no upperclassmen leadership to fill the void.

Rickea had her arguably worst game of the season by far. She disappeared all game.

MSU did this to themselves though, dumb turnovers, missing layups. Cant do that.

That was my main issue with this Miss St team. They have talented young players but absolutely zero leadership or anyone to turn to when times get rough.

Danberry is a good player but she isn't going to lead and carry the team on her back. Same with Bibby. I see a bunch of underclassmen playing discombobulated and in panic mode right now. They let a somewhat manageable deficit turn into a pretty steep hill to come back from.
J Danberry is a great complentary player on a team where she doesn’t have to start. Her best role was the Final Four year. She basically won the Louisville game.

Sometimes it seems like the other players just expect things to happen when they enter the game. For example X Wiggins is supposed to be our perimeter stopper when she enters. However tonight she seems to be going through the motions. Similarly A Matharu comes in expecting to just score. They have not figured out how hard they have to play yet. I agree that there is no real leader on this team that has yet developed.

.-.
Mitchell spent his last timeout with 3:30 to play. This could get interesting if MSU can close the gap.

8-point game with 2:07 to play.

Not a good foul there by Mingo-Young.

Miss St's entire team was going through the motions today. Poor decision making resulting in turnovers, lazy defense, lack of hustle.

How was that contact between a MissSt player and Carter not called????????????????????????

Lol no call on that contact between Howard and AEH? That's gotta be a call one way or the other.

I’m glad she’s having a good game. She always gives a great effort on defense and is the first one up on the bench to support her teammates. I wish she was just a little bit quicker.

Well I was one who voted for Kentucky to win the game. I guess a lot of people forgot State and Kentucky are rivals as well.

You can’t go into a home game against a Top 20 team and expect to not get embarrassed with that effort. However I don’t want to take anything away from Kentucky. They did a great job. I knew R Howard was an incredible player but C Patterson really played well.

Honestly, I'm kind of amazed State has, for the most part, avoided games like this all year with our youth. We've played this badly against lesser teams and found a way, but when we did it against better teams like UK and WV (who was playing well at the time) we lost as we should have.

Congrats to UK. They played very hard and deserved the win. Helped them more than it hurt us and may have helped us in the long run.

We should've redshirted McCowan her first year. But Vic just doesn't like the redshirt.

You're the epitome of a fan being a good loser - good on you. All in all, been very impressed by the MSU fans around here. They take after their WCBB coach -- not their new football coach. :)

Good job by UK. This loss is probably a good loss (if there is ever a good loss) in that Coach will have plenty of issues to work on in practice.

We have skated through some games that we won but when you play with fire you will eventually get burned. Today we got scorched.

Having said that I believe we will come back and play well at Auburn.

Sometimes Vic looks like he has no clue who should be out there. Game was lost when he put Bibby back out there to start the 3rd quarter. She should have redshirted this year because she just doesn't have it. Also gotta be tough on AEH because she's a shooter and shooters need consistent reps like she was getting last year but this year she has no clue if/when Vic will play her or how long he will play her. This was another one of those games where it looked like Myah Taylor would have blown layups even if she was out there by herself....amazing how inconsistent of a player she is.

The loss of Teaira McCowan is greater than the gain of Rickea Jackson.

Yes, the loss of a senior 1st team All American and one of the better rebounders in the history of the women's college game is greater than the gain of a HS All American. I agree.

Auburn may have gained some confidence today.

I've been surprised Auburn hasn't been a better team this year. Maybe they are pulling it together.

They played MSU very tough a few weeks ago. Confidence shouldn't be a problem.

Attendance: 5,317 .
Capacity 8,500.

Very kind of you to say. I've seen and played in enough games in my life to not get too high or low.

This team has honestly exceeded my expectations. We've lost 2 of the 4 best players in program history the past two seasons and another, Morgan William, who was the ultimate symbol of MSU's rise into the upper echelons.

Who could be sure we would stay in that class after those losses? This team gives me reason to believe we will be a contender as long as Vic's storming up and down the sidelines, and way outside the coaching box...

One other thing about this State that is reflective of a young team.
Our FT % is 67%.
That is very poor for a team that aspires to be in the top ten. If you are going to be a top tier team, your FT% should be N of 75%.

That is one of those stats that get overlooked by many fans but FT’s can win you games and missing them can lose you games. Today that was not necessarily the case but overall it can be a good indicator of how good your team is or better yet how consistently good your team is.

But as several of you have alluded, I am very proud of what this team has done so far.
22-4 and 10-2 in the conference is still excellent.

If I’m Vic I’m pretty pleased with her, she showed more hustle and heart in the limited minutes she had compared to some of the other players that were on the floor.

Good for her, maybe she gets some more minutes and confidence with that showing. She needed a confidence booster in the worst way. Danberry needs a wake up call. It has not been a very good two week stretch for her.

Finished with 12 points in 17 minutes. To crack the lineup, she needs to d more than 3pt shots and this game, she had 4 rebounds, 0 TO and some drives and mid range so maybe she can turn it around.

Bibby seems to have fallen off quite a bit from her last year numbers
