So did our win vs. West Virginia knock them (and with them, 2 of our show Ws) out of the Top 50?

It seemed like our resume rested on two things: Top 3 SOS (explains the losses), with 5-6 or 6-6 record against the Top 50 (gives credit to what wins we have).

I know this doesn't mean much, but I think we're all paranoid about how prescriptive the selection committee can be... Hopefully, other results bump WV back up! Can't be too paranoid about the impending DOOM!

Sort of reveals the ridiculousness of the rating system, or at least how much it matters, but:

Start the day: 5-6 vs. Top 50 RPI

During the day: beat a Top 50 RPI team

End of day: 4-6 vs. Top RPI

A win is more important than anything and we're in without a doubt now. It's great to play teams with high RPI's but you also need to beat some of them.

Wouldn't the fact that we had a higher RPI than West Virginia actually raise their RPI?

We're a 20 win team now ... that about seals it ... especially given the SOS.

Well, WVU is a tournament team unless something really really strange happens on Selection Sunday. I look at it as another win against a tournament bound team.

What an awesome game! I had class until about 1:50 and then I ran to the campus bar to catch the game tying up for the first time! Great finish!

If 20 wins against, arguably, the toughest schedule in the country doesn't get you in, then it's time to eliminate bids for tourney champs from some of the smaller conferences.

I thought we were NIT bound after the loss to Providence. That team gave me no reason to believe they could win a game like today. Congrats to the boys, let's win one more guarantee the bid.

Our RPI (the actual number, not the ranking) is barely higher than theirs.
