Washington second string keeping the starters on the bench.

Washington got 58 bench points! They won the game on the boards and at the arc. Minny won Q1 and Q3 decisively, but lost Q2 and Q4 by an aggregate 59-23. Ouch! EDD played only 13 minutes.

Lynx simply look old. Which they are. And they are built to win NOW. They have no real youthful talent - they haven't gotten a top player from the draft in a long time, and aside from Fowles, haven't done nearly as much as LA in getting free agents and what not.

VAMike23 and I were at the game this afternoon. Give the Mystics credit. They were down 18 early and getting blown out of their own building; they came all the way back, stayed in the game, and put the Lynx away in the 4th quarter. The Mystics today were so much better without EDD; they got scoring from all over the floor; Quite impressive.

As for the Lynx, EricLA is absolutely right about the aging core; Relying almost entirely on their wits and wisdom because there is very little elite athleticism upon which to rely(And make no mistake, there was some elite basketball ability and intensity on the floor). the Lynx have the players to get them through a best of five series, but are going to have a tough go in the regular season trying to establish home court advantage (It should be noted that the Mystics have always given Minnesota fits in the Maya era). Seimone and Whalen are operating on gasoline fumes and the little spare tire doughnut. Sylvia was physically hampered in the second half with the ankle injury. My feeling is that Danielle Robinson will eventually take over the point with Whelan providing relief; Much better defensively and has three times the foot speed. Minnesota did not get much help up front off the bench.

BTW: It embarrasses me to admit to being unaware that Asjha Jones is now a Mystics assistant coach. She was on television tonight discussing her rude awakening of an initiation to the WNBA; Much more physical, much more elite talent.

Natasha Howard is playing great for Storm so far. Wonder why Lynx let her go.

They gambled that Kizer and Fagbenle would provide the same quality of bench play that Pierson and Howard provided last season. It’s looking like they lost that bet pretty badly.

Natasha Howard saved the game verse Sky with last seconds block on a 2 on 1 break . You could say DeShields lost the game by not dishing on an easy read to win it in regulation. Hero ball loses game. Ball not only blocked but blocked off DeSheids body. Sky making mistakes they didn’t make latter part of last year. Quigly made some awful decisions as well. You can force her off her game. Canada and company ate Sky alive defensively pressing in big comeback win. Sky well coached last half of 2017.
