Mind-boggling Adama Sanogo

I hope Saturday's game starts late enough that halftime will be after sundown in LV. I don't want these guys dehydrating.
10pm game would be the same time they should be breaking fast in Vegas time. I assume they would eat a couple of dates and maybe a banana and water don’t want to get bloated right before

Someone said the game is at 5:30 in Vegas. Way before sundown.

That’s the thing. No food is rough to maintain your energy level, but no water is brutal. Adama usually works up a pretty good sweat during a game, but he was completely dry today. I was a little worried about him overheating.

Can he get an IV at halftime or before the game?

Different religion, but I have six fast days annually - two “major” fasts that last about 25 hours and four “minor” fasts from sun up to sun down. Major fasts are absolutely brutal. As someone mentioned earlier, the food isn’t the issue. It’s the inability to drink that absolutely crushes me. But minor fasts are easy. I’m not running up and down a basketball court. But Adama is young and in incredible shape. I assume he is having a 5am breakfast, with lots of hydration. That will easily get him to game time, without headaches and fatigue. My only concern is Vegas - extremely dry air most of the time. I’ve gotten dehydrated by just playing poker at Mandalay Bay.

Whatever superlatives you want to throw at Adama Sanogo just go ahead and use them.

Led the Big East in scoring ( first UConn player since Donyell Marshal to do that); Back-to-back All Conference; honorable mention All American; and leads his team to three blowout wins so far in the tournament while averaging 23 points and 10 rebounds.

Speaks four languages; leaves his home and his family in Mali to play ball in America; has improved his play every year at Storrs; and appears to be a team leader on and off the court.

And then we learn he’s playing last night on a day long fast but dominates the game anyway.

Just an impressive, amazing young man and one of my all-time favorite Huskies.

Unreal. Sitting at my desk for the two days Catholics fast, with fluids allowed, and i feel like I'm going to die every year. Cant imagine how hard it must be to play basketball like that.

And on top of the stat line and the offense, he was more like his old self with help defense last night as well. Great defensively.

-> The fasting players had a medical out, team trainer James Doran said. “If things get twisted and weird, they can drink,” Doran said.

If a player suffered severe cramps or was lightheaded due to dehydration, for example, they would likely choose to drink. It didn’t come to that. Sanogo looked no different than he has in recent games. UConn also closely monitored the situation and took advance precautions, Doran said, making sure extra IV bags were available. <-
