Today's proof that this fanbase is beyond spoiled is picking on the game of national player of the year candidates. Sheesh. And that's without even mentioning how logically irrelevant a player's pro career is to how he performed in college. I guess William AVery was a better college point guard than KEA because he had more of an NBA career.

I want another shooter and ballhandler but we're not exactly lacking guard talent, most other teams would kill to have Adams, Purvis and Hamilton.

Adrien was a great defensive player and rebounder and had a nice jumper but he had an extremely hard time finishing at the rim. He was fouled a lot and was a very mediocre foul shooter Don't you remember his missing fouls shots. He was a very good college player. Wish we had him this year.

As someone said, Miller wouldn't have committed to play one year at UConn if he was told he'd be a backup PF. I think Ollie is assuming Miller will come in and start. Facey will still see decent minutes at the 4 and Nolan will give us some good minutes at the 5. I see Enoch playing between 15 and 20 minutes next year. Once Nolan is gone he'll see increased minutes. And once Facey and Brimah graduate, he'll be playing 30+ minutes. So, yeah, I think Miller should and will be an instant starter.

You don't have a clue if you think the Ivy League is close to the AAC in athlethic and basketball talent. You make a lot of comments that I agree with but this one is off the wall.

Emeka didn't have much prior to his junior year but that year (when healthy) he was solid as a low post scorer (except when the Hack-a-Shaq strategy was utilized). Boone's entire offensive repertoire while at UConn was putbacks.
 
With his size and offensive skill, he's going to be able to stretch the defense and create space for Hamilton, Purvis and Adams. This is a nice compliment to the team. I don't want to make the comparison, but Giffy just comes to mind with his size and touch with the ball. We needed this bad, very happy tonight.

Does anyone know if we are done for 2015 recruiting or is there one more?
 
I don't think ball-handling is going to be as much of a problem next year as it was this year, even if the staff is unable to add another guard. I suspect Hamilton will be more than adequate as a secondary ball-handler next season, and Purvis made big strides in that area towards the end of the season.

According to the article linked in this thread they are looking to fill out the roster for next year. So two more. I guess they want to have as many options on the bench as possible after going through this rough year. Hopefully it is good players and not reaches.
 
  1. This is a nice pick up for us. If he can give us 8/6/2 night in and night out we`re in pretty good shape.
 
Yes, he'll start all 35 (or whatever) games at the 4.

He'll fill the DD role, with less finesse but more toughness.

Thank you! This needs to be repeated ad nauseum - people don't seem to realize how good DHam became at initiating the offense in the last two months of the season. He had better than a 2-to-1 assist/to ratio and the ball will be in his hands a ton.

I think we should aim for a 5th-year shooter (Smith from Va Tech, McGlynn from Towson) - a specialist who can help stretch the floor at all times.

I believe McGlynn has already committed to URI. Smith may be our best bet.

You're right - my bad. I guess there's Smith as the clear No. 1, but there's also the kid from Drake and Lonnie Jackson from BC who'd fit the sharpshooter role. Neither is a starter for us, but neither needs to be.
 
Nobody knows right now if he will start or how much he will play including KO. The starting lineup decision will be a more difficult decision than most people think. For example, if Brimah turns into a monster rebounder we may need more shooting at that position.

His scoring gets pretty close to 20 ppg if you remove the games where he was injured and played limited minutes or was ineffective trying to play through it (mainly GT the first time, Cuse, and Alabama). That's about as good as you can expect in the modern college game from a post player (especially one who wasn't a great FT shooter and left some points at the line). The lack of spacing and resulting ease of installing double teaming game plans makes it really hard to get much higher than that.

As a junior, he was dominant offensively when healthy. He torched North Carolina (alas McCants torched us back). He took the Duke game over in the second half and the 24+15 in the final was a signature closing statement. For a guy who's range was a layup as a freshman, it was remarkable how he improved.

It's probable that there are other players who have not yet announced that they're transferring, particularly if they want to make sure they're going to be able to graduate this semester or during the summer. I wouldn't be surprised if we found our shooter after school ends.
 
I'm still not giving up on Sam II Am as that shooter. We just don't know how disruptive his injury was last year.
 
I think he'll absolutely start and the 1-4 should be very good. No idea on Brimah. I thought he would be very good this past year and he really struggled at times and seemed to have his worst games at the end of the season, minus the Duke one. Hopefully he and Nolan can platoon and play a decent 5.

I'm not going to "give up on him," but I'd go into this season assuming he won't provide anything. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to recruit a shooter because I think Cassell might warrant too many minutes to fit another guard into the rotation.
 
I wouldn't have my expectations too high for Miller. Check out his 14-15 stats against teams from major conferences:

12/31 @ Cuse - 12 pts, 5 boards
11/21 vs Penn St - 15 pts, 3 boards
11/20 vs South Carolina - 9 pts, 3 boards

Miller's 16.8/8.5 averages are eye-popping, but in these three games Miller averaged 12.0/3.7. While that's still a very good clip, this small sample suggests that Miller does not physically dominate in games against higher competition. No doubt, Miller is a very welcome addition, but I'm still banking on a Adams-Purvis-Hamilton-Facey-Brimah starting 5, with Nolan, Enoch and Miller providing depth in the 5, 4 and 3 spots, respectively.
 
I'm guessing every Cornell's player's numbers were down against P5 competition. They're going to commit more turnovers, have a harder time finding shots, etc.

3 games is also a very small sample size.
