Mike Patrick, longtime ESPN broadcaster, dies

Mike Patrick, who spent 36 years as a play-by-play commentator for ESPN and was the network's first NFL voice for "Sunday Night Football," has died at age 80.

I remember Mike P-ACC-trick and Dook Vilate doing Dook games together. That was worse than listening to Tommy Heishen doing a C's game. I loved Tommy, so I used to laugh at the bias

Yeah man. Liked when he did games. Some old school acc ones too with Dickie V. He was also voice of espn Sunday night football back in the day. Not many good broadcasters left. Musburger, enberg, don criqui, summerall, madden, keith Jackson, gumbel, john miller, vin scully etc… the voices of my youth. Wish jim nantz was still doing the tourney. Most of these new guys are pretty weak when u grew up on all those names tough for the new guys to be better.

RIP. I generally liked him, but I'll always remember that ESPN used to have him call the WCBB title games despite him being entirely unqualified and unprepared.

I remember him calling games in the early 80's but I will always remember him for 2 thing. Dick Vitale and Mike Patrick calling Men's NCAA games and I will ALWAYS remember him as doing NFL Play by Play for Sunday Night Football in 1987.
