I left congrats on the other thread.
What a joy.
What a great place to ski

Thank you for ruining it for those of us who were waiting until tonight to watch the race. Please change the header to OT.

Now watching Mikaela's run tonight will be like watching a Husky Women's basketball game, huh? You will have to eschew the suspense and just revel in the precision.

I used to be one of those "I don't want to hear any results until I can watch it on the broadcast." But anymore it is next to impossible to avoid it with internet breaking news alerts on the computer, checking the news websites, radio news, nightly/local news etc. I am too exhausted these days from stress and anxiety to even stay awake to see the opening of the primetime broadcast. So now I don't have to watch tonight and can just go to sleep.

Old Coach ya did good! What an awesome performance!!!!!!!!!! 18 years old, she could win many more Gold medals.

If Mikaela is the Face of USA skiing over the next few years we have got one seriously pretty face. She almost had a ....uhh...'turnover'.... in that second run but she recovered beautifully.

What part of spoiler don't you get? I saw that and didn't read it until this AM.

In fairness, "spoiler" was added by one of the mods when the title was edited. The original thread title was Mikaela Shiffrin wins Gold.

What a magnificent young woman! What a run! What a save! WOW! OC, hope you and all who know her are having as good a day as she did!

She says she will be shooting for five golds in 2018.

5? Slalom/giant slalom/super G/downhill....that's 4.

I read somewhere that medals are awarded in the combined superG and downhill...correct?
Do they simply add the times of the competitors who raced in both and the low time gets the gold?

i.e....race in 4 and win 'em all....the 5th is a given?

Probably is referring to this.... a new event. LINK

There are currently five individual events: Downhill, Slalom, Giant Slalom, Super G and Super Combined. The Super Combined is combining your best times in a downhill and slalom run (a separate competition in itself).
