I instinctively want to root against Maryland, but Michigan lost to Notre Dame, which automatically puts them on my "bad" list.

Maryland had a great 4th quarter to win 70-55. If you're a Maryland fan, you have to be happy that Kaila Charles had her first superstar game of the season. The other thing Maryland fans will be happy about is the rebounding was really good against a good rebounding team.

Hilman did not play well against FSU whereas Dilk ran the point all game and was under control and shot very well. A few Michigan fans and I were talking and they too said Hillman is a player. I was not able to see tonight’s game but will keep an eye on her. Thanks.

Michigan has three good players in Dilk, Robbins and Hillman who was co-freshman of the year with Mikesell. But they are going to have trouble in some games because they can't shoot three pointers.

I had a chance to catch most of this game. I have to say, I was impressed with both teams (more for Maryland). Their defense was absolutely stifling at times. And Maryland actually tried to run some offense. Still too much dribbling around by one player for Michigan. Why it it so hard to teach kids any kind of motion offense in WCBB? I see better stuff run by some of the top mid-majors than P5 teams ranked in the top 25 quite frequently.

There was a 5-6 minute stretch there where I found myself thinking "I don't see how Michigan will score even 1 more basket". Every trip down the floor by Michigan's offense was so tenaciously defended that it resulted in a held ball (turnover to Maryland on alternating possessions), or a straight up TO.

It seemed like Michigan had no idea how to handle pressure defense, so it was surprising to see them down only 4 with 4 or so minutes left in the game.

I know it's hard to bring that kind of intensity on defense for 40 minutes BUT... I'm hopeful for UCONN that starting next year, with all the quality depth we will have, that Geno can implement a full court press and intense defense for close to 40 minutes in any game he wants.

Brenda Frese defense has never been this good before. I have to give her credit for having the team buy into this type of play.
