Sure they are not in the mega Conferences and have limited competition, but no one is talking about them going undefeated in the regular season. 31-0 in D1 is still impressive and commendable regardless of the opponents faced. They may flame out in the Tourney, but I hope not. Lets see if they win their Conference Tourney for a high seed. Anyway to be ranked 19 is unfair for a perfect record this late in the season. They should be bumped up near the top 10, for storyline purposes.

Just saying 31-0 should garner some national recognition beyond a novelty. They will be Cinderella for sure in a couple of weeks.

Awesome story and they are a shoe-in for the NCAA Tournament.

Every year, I try to find measurable advantages for teams in the NCAA Tournament and this year, I'm hammering the mantra of defense travels, shooting doesn't.

With that being said, I'm red-flagging teams that shoot a lot of threes, but suck at offensive rebounding: Miami is one of these teams.

Miami's defense is OK (3rd in the MAC, 52nd nationally in defensive rebound rate), but they are 86th in the nation in 3PA/FGA (44.2%), but 337th in the nation in offensive rebounding rate. If they matchup against a team that forces teams to take tough shots and battles on the defensive boards, they will be in trouble.

I think they show and play a "power conference" team with a lot of heart, moxie and confidence

I wouldn't want to play them the first weekend

It’s a great story but they are not the 19th best team in America. Really interested to see how they’re seeded and who they’re matched up against first round

Don't do them dirty like 2006 George Washington and give them a 9.

With that said, I do think they'll be given a 10 or something.

The only thing about this story that I don’t like is that they will surely not win the MAC tournament. Get ready for the chaos on Selection Sunday when the mighty Big East gets the same number of bids as the WCC and only one more than the MAC.

Are you saying an undefeated MAC team is more deserving than a .500 Power conference team? But what about their SOS? What about Seton Hall? They are 53 in the NET. Miami is 52!! Should the State of NJ be denied a team just because nobody is good? A team wins ALL its games and you want them to basically get an automatic bid? There are incredibly mediocre teams in the Big 10, Big 12, ACC and SEC that DESERVE a bid for being incredibly mediocre. Sadly Seton Hall is it in the NBE, but nobody from New Jersey will watch without a local team.

What is the sense of stacking the deck to make sure MORE P league teams get in if you are then going to allow a team that doesn’t lose a single game get in? It’s a sacrilege!

FYI I’m pulling for the Red Hawks to make a good run!

THIS times a 1000.

They are an NIT team at best. To be undefeated and still be sub-50 nationally in NET while barely cracking 100 in KenPom is all we need to see. Running the table in the MAC is an accomplishment, sure. So isn’t winning a DII or DIII tournament.

The entire conversation surrounding this team was about how they might not make the tourney even if going undefeated. Nobody wants that, I get it. But also, play atleast ONE tough opponent. They chose to play ZERO. They now are in a position where they could be an at large bid. Likely the worst at large bid to ever enter the tourney.

I hope I’m wrong and I know this thread was meant to applaud them but I just cant do that. They will be a first round exit in my bracket. All of my brackets.

The intent of the thread was to congratulate them on a very impressive season. No one seems to be talking about them. No need to bash or fault find, these kids balled their asses off. Let them have some shine.

To me, going undefeated in D1 (31-0) is an automatic Tournament qualifier. At least they will get a chance to show the Nation if they are for real. That's the beauty of college basketball.

It’s like you’ve never been on the boneyard. That’s its purpose.

You're one of the few on this site who have common sense. ALL big-time programs turned them down to play this season. These kids played their asses off, and to criticize them is wrong. They deserve a spot, and even if they are knocked out in the first round, it doesn't matter. There is also another unbeaten team out west here in Cali, and it's Cal East Bay, and they are now 29-0. Although Division 2 no one would play them even in a pre-season game.

I did not know that. Definitely changes my opinion and softens the anger I had with my last post. I was wrong. I had thought they scheduled this way intentionally.

I am curious as to what top teams were scared to play them. I sure hope we weren’t one of those teams.

Good of you to admit you were wrong.

Now if we could just get @KingAG to do the same.

Congrats to them! Even playing a weak schedule, not slipping up 31 times in a row is impressive

It’ll be very …interesting… to see what happens to them in terms of seeding. If they lose in their conference tournament and don’t get an at large, then what’s the point of even playing the games?

I know I’m skipping a lot of steps here. But the portal/NIL would actually help lol. If the games before the conference tournament actually mean nothing, at least guys would still play hard to get noticed. Otherwise, if you won’t get credit for wins against bad teams and good teams won’t schedule you because they don’t want to lose, why bother even trying?

I know nothing about this Miami team but I see a 6’8 sophomore on their roster that averages 14 PPG and shoots 40% from three. He’ll get paid somewhere else next year regardless of what happens in the tournament

Certainly it is a unique accomplishment, but the argument over whether they should be in was always gonna happen.

Going undefeated is filled with variables that need to be evaluated. Miami OH played 3 non D-1 teams and only played one team in Ken Pom's Top 100 (Akron, 60. 3 point win). The next best team was 136. They may be a very good team. The problem is that they haven't proven it in any measure. We honestly don't know if this is a good team at all.

One more thing: if they were 30-1 with the loss being to that Akron team would they be in?

I don’t care that they couldn’t schedule top teams.

I’m not hashing this out again.

If you think I was wrong, have fun with it lol

Will they get rocked in the first round of the NCAAT? Probably, but so will plenty of teams. It’s a cool story from a conference we otherwise wouldn’t have heard anything from. College basketball needs those.

I may be in the minority, but 30-1 D1 team deserves to be in, especially if they were undefeated regular season.

Why punish the players for a schedule they had nothing to do with?

Apparently sarcasm doesn’t show up well here. I thought the New Jersey comments would give it away!

We’re talking top 68 teams here this isn’t the college football playoffs, yes they should be in if they don’t win their conference tournament, it’s not a conversation honestly. This is only a conversation because of what Bruce Pearl said, it’s like people are just piling on to his narrative because it’s the cool and trendy thing to do.

Iirc, the team shoots over 40% from 3, and they shoot a lot of them. I watched about 2/3 of the Ohio game, and they hit a lot of clutch shots. It was a good game. 110-108 in OT.
