So I read this weekend that the Mets are bringing Omar Minaya back as a special assistant to Sandy.

I like it; as long as he doesn't have the checkbook, I think he could provide helpful input evaluating talent.

We still need to make lots of personnel moves, though.

Is this really a good thing? All I remember of him is throwing big contracts at any player with a Hispanic last name.

After all, a number of players Minaya had brought into the Mets’ minor league system — Matt Harvey, Jacob deGrom, Daniel Murphy, Lucas Duda, Jeurys Familia, Steven Matz — played critical roles in the resurgence.

Like I said, as long as he doesn't have the checkbook, I think they could benefit from his input on talent.
