Coach,
You will be richer but not happier in LA.
Hope you stay. Thank you for all you have done.

Some friendly advice.. Went to the west coast for 9 months to graduate school and couldn't wait to get back to Ct. West coast is nice but not home for me. Love you as our coach.

Dan,

You talked about the TEAM, selflessness, culture, kids who don't have NIL as their main priority, sacrifice, interviewing kids parents.

Well, the NBA is babysitting guys who make 50+ million dollars a year.

You are a defensive coaching genius. They don't play defense in the NBA.

Hi Coach. What my friend meant to say is don’t do it!!’ Beaches are over rated. After one winter you will miss the north east. Plus, these are not your dad’s Lakers. Jerry West isn’t running the show!! Besides, you are King Kong right now. Why chose to be another little ape? Not everything that shines is gold.
You lost me at beaches are overrated

Dear Dan
Of course you went to LA with a mental list of players on that team that you know could never play for you. And of course, when you told them, they told you there's no way those dudes are going anywhere. Decision made. Well played.

Thank you I forgot about this song. I spent some time with KC and the Band in their later years helping them with their security and logistics when they were playing events for large companies.
That’s cool. I don’t know why, but it was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw this thread.

Whatever the amount of the contract is sometimes it isn’t worth the hardship that the new coach and family go through. Yes there is more to see in LA than Manchester. But getting to any location out west would take hours. To Storrs it’s 20 minutes. How many college coaches have had success in the NBA? Not many. However that’s not to say that you will not.

You get to coach the current best player in the league. Or is it; fold and put his clothes in his locker until he retires. Plus, the Lakers need to draft his son. I’m sure that he will be a great player one day after learning how to play basketball under your tutelage. That should take you through the length of your new contract. Am sorry but I forgot that once dad retires he will be your new boss. That should be interesting. Labron can team up with the Ball Family. That would be an awesome circus show.

In the meantime you have 12 kids that will win another NCAA Championships one day. That will happen. Sadly somewhere along the years you will be back coaching NCAA hoops. I’m sure that Arkansas will have had enough of Calipari and his crap by then. So a job opportunity will be there. Plus, a ton of NIL money will be available from Walmart the states largest employer.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you and your family my best. All of us that live in Connecticut can’t thank you enough for your accomplishments. You solidified our State as the Basketball Capital of the World. Thank you very much and best wishes.

Coach,
I don't see you as a big ego guy. You want to win every game because the challenge and the Love and satisfaction you get when succeeding.
That formula might not workout the same out in LA.

After living half of my life in SoCal as a Lakers fan, I know the fandom in LA. Their Love is like a teenage . Quick, fleeting and too soon forgotten. You're only as good as your last win. They will Hate you after the first loss.
So what if you can buy the best house, in your favorite neighborhood with garages full of your favorite trucks and dream sports cars. Or secure financial security for generations of little Hurleys.

We will Love you forever. We will build statues in your honor. We will express nothing but Love and support on social media.

Stay.......just a little bit longer.
