Memphis v Louisville on CBS

This is going to make for a very screwy Top 25. What are voters to do?

Memphis has one more loss than UConn, has lost to UConn twice, has the two wins over Louisville as feathers in the cap, and they just lost this week to Houston.

Do you put Memphis ahead of UConn?

I don't see how you can do that. One more loss, 2 losses to UConn. NO. UConn should be voted ahead of Memphis.

I'm glad to see Memphis win. It should keep them in the top25 and makes our two wins against them look better. But it's just not fair! Why can't Louisville go 4-23 from 3-point range against us? Maybe we could beat them for once.

Can someone please explain the lane violation? Was the lane violation on the 1st free throw he made? Cause if that's the case then I understand why the point was whipped out, however, don't you still get to shoot the 2nd free throw? Or if it was on the 2nd free throw, then how does the point from the 1st one get whipped out?

If he was shooting 2 I agree the first one gets wiped out, but he gets to shoot the second.

Agreed. It was the double bonus, so if the lane violation occurred during the 1st free throw then he should have been entitled to shoot the 2nd free throw. I'm really confused...

a legitimate Final Four team.
1-5 vs ranked opponents is Final Four caliber? We are 4-2 vs ranked opponents (4-4 if you count SMU who was not ranked each time we played) and some people here thought we had a real chance of missing the tournament.

Both stay unbanked and Duke goes to #1

In this conference, a team can lose to Houston and then beat the #1 team in the conference the very next game.

So basically the ref stepped in, negated a point, didn't let them shoot a 2nd free throw, and gave Louisville a shot to tie the game?

That's basically what I saw. But need confirmation because I still can't believe it.

Great W!!! Congrats to you and all the Memphis fans. I am really looking forward to the AAC tourney. Should be a blast.

The 1st FT counted. The lane violation was on the 2nd FT. The real score was 70-66, so it was never really a 3 point game during Ville's last possession. CBS just completely messed up and confused everyone in the process.

It's something when you look at the gap between the top five and the bottom five in this conference. We never had this in the BE.

If we can pull out a win at Louisville next weekend (no small order) we'll be 4-4 against the top of this conference It kind of makes the loss at Houston sting a bit more.

That was it! Geez, I thought I imagined him making the first free throw because after the violation the score was still shown as 69-66.

It was pretty sad that neither Gminski nor the play by play announcer had any idea what was actually going on with the lane violation. Not a good look CBS.

If you are on an AAC high from watching Ville and Memphis... Do not watch SMU/UCF. Repeat do not watch SMU/UCF.

You're welcome to disagree, but they pass my eye test. Harrell has taken them to a different level.

Congrats on your big win today Huskies. Sort of like I imagine some of you were, I was sort of hoping Cincy would pull it out against you guys, assuming we can beat them on the road (already losing to you guys twice, no reason to root for you guys in this one other than for respect). Anyways, works out best for the conference in that it appears five teams may once again be ranked. I would guess that at this point, five teams from our confence are all a lock for the NCAA Tourney. Hopefully at least one of us gets hot (prefer not Loserville since they are leaving the conference), and makes a good run in the big tourney. I think there are four teams that have a shot if things fall right to make the final four (SMU is the one I think that has been a king of the home court and only "good" on the road). The remaining four all have weaknesses, but all have the talent to make the run. Hope to share a beer with some of you in the first AAC Tourny here in Memphis.

Memphis sucks and this horse crap of a league proves it

Just because the Internet provides anonymity doesn't mean you HAVE to be a .

Memphis is a more than a decent team. Beating Louisville twice in one season is not easy. And if you think this league is horse crap this season, then you better jump off the nearest bridge before next season starts.

I think there was some sarcasm with his statement.

It was hard for me to tell. If so, apologies but you have to admit that there are a significant portion of the BY who constantly rip on the AAC and I've gotten quite tired of it. I'd rather focus on how well our team has been playing.

Louisville is not a Top 20 team in my opinion. Harrell is very good, and Smith can be very good at times although I think too much time in college has exposed his limitations. Hancock is OK. All in all, just a well coached but overall "meh" team. Their Top 50 wins are over SMU, Southern Miss, UConn and Cincinnati. Not bad, but Missouri State is the only other Top 100 victory for this team, with 19 of Louisville's wins coming outside the top 100. While neither of the OOC Top 50 losses were blowouts, neither UNC or Kentucky are great teams this year and both were in control of the game for most of the second half.

I would be surprised if Louisville makes the second weekend of the Tournament.
