Wonder what Gabby was so excited about as she ran off the court.

Gabby and Kia got to choose the winners of the Fan Loyalty drawing and the student loyalty drawing. They really seemed to get into it. Usually Geno draws the names so this was something new.

Re Courtney feeding the post, part of that is her job, but also she spots up in case she gets the return pass, which makes the 3-point shot easier. She's 9-23 from the arc this year, for a respectable .391. Most of us expected her to be a .400 shooter, and she is just about there.

Gabby and Kiah seem to love drawing the names. They did at a game I went to and hammed it up. I think once again they danced their way off the court afterward! I like Kia's braids. I wonder who was doing them. They even showed Lobo's daughter sporting some fancy braids.

Well, it finally happened (I think). When Gabby exited in the 3rd period, Eric Frede called her "Gabby Hayes." Now, I don't think Eric is old enough to remember the real Gabby Hayes, who was a side-kick for Hopalong Cassidy and Roy Rogers when I was growing up in the 40s. Hayes was a grizzled old feller, toothless, with shabby white whiskers that got scratched a lot. He was a stock character, as all cowboy heroes had side-kicks who provided some laughs but could ride, shoot, and were loyal as all outdoors.

At the start of the game, and especially when she entered play, the announcers talked about a new brace on Chong's knee.

Seems that the brace was off after halftime, but no notice of it by either Eric or Meghan.

Wondering if anyone else saw this, too.

May be Eric thinks Gabby plays like Tiffany Hayes?

Yeah it was to help her IT band issue. It was big and white, you couldn't miss it.

Just for clarity, it wasn't a "brace" but a tape job. And yes it was gone on the second half.

They mentioned it.

Is he related to Icebear? ;)
No but talking about Gabby Hayes reminds me that years ago we chided our dearly departed curmudgeon Huskybill on his remarkable resemblance to Hayes. If you put glasses and a UConn hat on Hayes he was a Huskybill doplganger.

I think she can play and distinguish herself now and compete vs the elite teams. I felt that way for a little while now.

Very happy today overall with performance. Three pt shooting. :)

Gabby sticking a beauty jumper then she made an incredible beauty move by pump faking around 15 feet and drove to the basket only to miss the layup. But what a beauty move after a bit earlier knocking down a sweet 15 foot jumper! :)

MoJeff - awesome!! So damn smooth!!! :)

Butler looked real good. Loved that left-handed hook! Took her time and nice tough move. And continues to show she can BOth shoot and pass. I love fundamentals and this kid certainly has that. :)

Butler has a nice game. If she sticks around for two more years, she will be a beast by the time she leaves.

I just watched the post game presser with Geno and he did not seem too particularly pleased with the rebounding effort by Collier, Lou, and Butler, especially in the first half. If I did not know better, I thought UConn lost the game.

after it came off?

I think thats what Cabbie is wondering... Cabbie knows they talked about it being on but did they talk about it being off

Good for Geno. :)

He is the coach. Part of his job is to find fault for a lot things. He can find fault for something as simple as body language. Or other things such as a player that doesn't cut hard or doesn't hedge properly off a pick and roll. For me - I'm just a fan. My biggest concern on this team is shooting. For others it is post play. Geno is concerned with every nuance. I am not. :)
