I can think of 3 times that happened to us. Who are they?

PS: Miles doesn't count

Off the top of my head, Bynum is the only significant one I can think of and it was probably a good thing.

Doesn't count, but Prince Ali, you ruined the 2015-2016 Huskies.

there are at least two others who bailed, and no one will argue at least one of them was NOT a major loss

we still won the NC without the third

Cleveland Melvin

he would have been pretty darn good too, but I think recruiting Roscoe (or DD) made him change his mind

I was thinking about Dove and Majok, who both bailed in August and Bynum who bailed in June for the NBA draft

T Walker quit in December

I think all the others changed their minds much earlier in the process

Does Miles not count because he couldn't make bail??

I guess he would be a 4th summer surprise, but not playing really wasn't his choice

Majok is, I assume, who you are thinking of there.
Ma-joke was hardly a prize player. He was never heard from again although I believe the Lakers drafted him (not sure why)

I believe he and Kemba came in as 5 stars, ranked something like 12 & 13 in the country

his eligibility was delayed beyond reason, and he certainly did not live up to lofty expectations in his one season

but he was a prize recruit, and the program had high expectations for him moving forward.

as for his post UConn career, let's just say he should have stayed

I'm guessing the Lakers saw the same potential, but NBA teams have a lot less patience

Who knows? I'm sure JC would have made an impact on him. You hardly ever hear any of JC's guys behaving the way Bynum does.

Emmanuel Mudiay is the most recent for our Ponies. The other, and yes, I have to go way back, is Larry Johnson. LJ, if memory serves correctly, committed but could not get into the university academically. We all know what he did at UNLV.
