Ok, been a couple weeks since the Mother's Day Music thread. With Memorial Day this weekend, thought we could start another. So here's the deal. Any songs/groups that have Army/Navy/Air Force/Marines/Coast Guard in title. War. Battles. About war/anti-war songs. Gonna have some latitude on this one. Use your imagination.

So we'll start with the Navy.

In The Navy - The Village People

I like this version and was about to post it.

There are a few versions of the lyrics, but these are what I remember from Scouts:

Day is done, go on the sun,
From the lake, from the hills; from the sky.
All is well, safely rest, God is nine.

Fading light, dims the site,
And a star gems the sky gleaming bright.
From a far, drawing nigh, falls the night.

Thanks and praise, for our days
'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, 'neath the sky.
Thanks and praise, for our days,
God is nigh.

I added the lyrics and ran out of time before I could fix the typos. It corrected version follows:

Day is done, gone the sun,
From the lake, from the hills; from the sky.
All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

Fading light, dims the sight,
And a star gems the sky gleaming bright.
From a far, drawing nigh, falls the night.

Thanks and praise, for our days
'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, 'neath the sky.
Thanks and praise, for our days,
God is nigh.

It really is a beautiful song and knowing the lyrics makes it more meaningful when you hear it played at a funeral service. The military version is slightly different than the above.
