Memorial Day movies

I really liked the Pacific too

What makes a "Memorial Day" movie different from a "Veteran's Day" movie?

Given the first honors those who died in service and the second honors all those who served, alive or deceased, I think I have to go with "Saving Private Ryan" for Memorial Day, followed by Platoon and Tora! Tora! Tora!. Not much in the way of great Korean War movies out there (I don't count M*A*S*H as a "war" movie), but Bridges at Toko-Ri and Pork Chop Hill will do, with the latter being especially grim.

Band of Brothers

Saving Private Ryan

Tora Tora Tora

....and for a good recent war movie....Fury is excellent.

Forgot one....oldie

Stalag 17

Few others...

Glory
The Patriot
The Dirty Dozen

I happened to catch Glory again on tv the other day. Forgot how damn good that movie is. Really moving too.

So many to mention, but the 2-3 I love seeing on Memorial Day weekend are:
Band of Brothers
Kelly's Heroes
Patton

Platoon is my favorie war related movie, but not on Memorial Day.
