Let's keep an eye out for Megan during the broadcast...hopefully in the elite seats behind the UConn
bench. I think she is scheduled to come...interest in both UConn and ND [I believe]. Wonder if her parents might be there too.

Andra Espinoza-Hunter...2017 verbal to UConn. Next up???

Hope Uconn can land such a great talent like Walker. Would definately (With Good Coaching) Keep the Uconn on top for years to come.

I am much more spiteful. I want to "remind" a certain poster who claims to have inside knowledge that Walker is going to ND that this would be Walker's second visit to the UCONN campus on her own dime and she has yet to set foot on the ND campus.
Walker to Notre Dame is really not a secret in the AAU world anymore. The only home visit that Walker and her family put on social media was ND. I'm also being told that ND told 2 other highly ranked wings that they weren't recruiting them anymore because of a promise that Walker would be there.

Isn't Ms.Collier moseying on up from Texas today as well?Or do Texans just sashay on up with their thumbs in their belt? At any rate that is a dynamic duo that could take the court right now and perform quite well.

Campus visits are just campus visits. We were all pretty excited to see Lauren Cox come to first night and have her picture taken with a few of our future players. In the end it didn't mean very much; she already knew where she would be attending college. Her's was just a courtesy call.

I want Walker as much as anyone. Two or three times this winter I identified her as our number one target for the future, but by now we all know how precarious the recruiting process can be. I say hooray that she's coming today (is she?), but I'm still going to hold my breath on her until she announces.

Not really. Campus visits are significantly different from "official" visits.
The difference goes to the pocketbook. When Cox visited UCONN all cost was out of the UCONN pocketbook for her and her family. When Megan visits UCONN ( for the second time) the cost will be out of the pocketbook of the Walker family-with the exception of two game tickets. Same with ms Collier coming up from Texas. In the business world the latter would be considered having skin in the game.

So Lauren Cox and family knew she would not attend UConn but took the trip to UConn at UConn expenses. This is all legal but is it ethical?

True. But....let's see which bench she sits behind & UCONN played at ND last year. Megan is from Virginia, ND plays an ACC schedule with games at NC, Duke, NCSt. & Wake, UVA that are a lot closer to the Walker house than UCONN.

Nobody knows this to be true and calls into question the ethics of this incredibly fine family. I think she WAS a Baylor lean but wanted to give each university a visit to see if she felt more at home than she did at Baylor. However, I believe that when she and her entire family visited on homecoming weekend that she knew it was the best fit.

I personally don't see anything wrong with it & I'm not sure the family "knew" prior to the visit. The school has to agree to the official visit and if UCONN "knew" they have the option of cancelling the visit. Which is what I think Louisville did-found out Cox was not coming to Louisville so they cancelled the visit and signed a different player-Johnson.

Just because Cox ultimately chose BU does not mean that she had already made a decision. I believe that she was a Baylor lean all along but she took her visits, like recruits should do, to give each university a chance to see if maybe there was something that may sway her that it was a better fit. But in the long run no program felt like a better fit and she went with her heart.

So let's not pretend to know what her intentions were when taking all of her visits.

I don't claim to have any 'inside' knowledge or information regarding her, but one of the local HS Girl's BB Coach's here who is a huge presence in the Ohio AAU scene, says that Walker is a done deal to ND and that ND has told a couple of other players that they were recruiting that they no longer have space for them. This same person was the first to say that Kathryn Westbeld was going to ND, when practically everyone had her to tOSU. Again I have no idea what Walker will or will not do, recruiting is such a hinkey business. As far as her coming to UConn on her own dime, is she coming for a visit or just to attend the game? The trip from VA to CT is a straight shot up I-95 and not a really far drive.

I have heard the same thing unfortunately. Again, I don't claim to personally have any "inside knowledge" but those I know definitely have their hand on the pulse of the recruiting world and they say that Walker is a huge ND lean.

ETT, I support your comment. It wasn't fair of me to assume that the Cox family knew that Baylor was in their future. It turned out that way, but we have no way of knowing that they didn't struggle with the decision.

I try to be careful not to criticize the girls, because it's terribly unfair to do so. In Lauren's case she was always talked about as being a State of Texas lean and in the end Baylor turned out to be the most attractive school for her and her future.

I hope she does well enough to succeed without causing us future pain. But I sure would have loved to see what Geno could have done with her. More than many others, she looked like UCONN material to me.

Megan is a high School Junior. It takes 8 Hours to drive from Richmond to Stoors, CT. If she is driving she is probably not driving by her self or driving it in one day. So figure a hotel room somewhere along the way.
It only takes 10.5 Hours from Richmond to get to South Bend where UCONN played last year. If she is flying it is more expensive. I 'm a UCONN homer but my logic says if Walker has/is about to commit to ND going to a UCONN vs. ND game makes little sense.

I definitely don't have any foreknowledge or facts regarding the matter and certainly will not present any assumptions. I was one who dearly wanted Jewell L but she went to ND. However, it worked out good for Uconn.

whether Walker is a ND lean or not, I'm still hoping Geno and the Uconn family can persuade her to adorn herself with Husky Blue. If not, suit up and prepare for more future battles.

The Cox family was treated to beautiful New England fall foliage, an opportunity to meet several present and future All-Americans, visit the finest practice facility anywhere, and view the largest collection of NPOY banners or NCAA NC trophies in one place, anywhere. Worth the trip, all expenses paid.

Good luck to Lauren in Waco. ;)

NOBODY knows what she wanted, outside of her family. For us UConn fans, time to let it go. The Huskies have the best player in that class...Ms Dangerfield. There has to be some semblance of parity. Wish Cox the best...we'll see her in the AAC (playing for SMU) in a couple of years. ;)

I have to agree that she had UCONN written all over her. She is a good player with a team-first mentality and conducts herself with maturity and humility, which is what the UCONN program is all about. She definitely has the qualities that have made UCONN players so successful over the years and Baylor was fortunate to be in her back yard, otherwise she might have gone elsewhere.

I pass through the Boneyard daily, hoping to read that a highly coveted "BIG" has committed to UConn. I'm becoming a little apprehensive when I read about highly ranked recruits on UConn's short list, have commited to other programs.

I want to once again feel the joy and excitement I felt when it was announced that Butler (the big we desperately needed) was transferring in, and Collier, Samuelson and Boykin had all committed to UConn. I want to log on and read about another coveted "BIG" committing to UConn. We know UConn is not for everyone, but it's not the forbidden zone either. All of the top five schools have received verbals from many of the top 25 rated players in the 2016 and 2017 class. OK, now it's our turn.

Before you get riled, I'm not forgetting the players that have already committed to the program, and are coming over the next two years. In Geno I trust. I have no doubt that Geno and staff will find that special post player that fits into the program (has all the intangibles, and checks all the boxes that Geno wants in a recruit) like a glove, and wants to come to Storrs (with the same resolve as Mone' Davis), and become part of Husky lore. I know she's out there. I'm just waiting for her to come home.

Players can be leans for a long time and then change. Baylor felt pretty sure that both Brianna Turner and Alexis Jones were going to commit to us and in the end they chose to go elsewhere.

UCONN offers a guaranteed National Championship for a number 1 player. Have you ever had a number 1 recruit that didn't win at least one championship?

I don't think it's unethical. Even if Cox or Walker has already "made up her mind", and even if UCONN "knows" this, don't you think UCONN would want a crack at showing them around and potentially getting back in the game?

I was very concerned that she would see the excitement of First Night, get caught up in the hype and decide that was the place where she wanted to play for four years.

A lot of us had the same thought -- or expectation. :(
