Meet the Huskies - Gandy

It makes me think- I want her to flourish. She seems like such a good person. (Mature as Geno says)
Big people are often a different breed though. Geno has taken on big people projects before and missed the mark. Piath Gabriel- crap, her brother played in the NBA.
I can imagine how she feels trying to learn so much, so fast, as her skills are tested on everything and her body acclimates to the environment. Everywhere she looks she sees competition; those that came before, veteran players above her, and even recruits, like "the Big O".
Geno wants a center that you just have to feed them on the block and it's 2. Combine that with the team's skill and sharpshooting.
I took my freshman squad to a Georgetown game, $10 a seat, nosebleed central. But I got to watch the game from way above and you could really see the impact a big man plays on defense. Roy Hibbert- not their best ever, but he played a while in the NBA. 7'0"

She speaks without a trace of an accent. I don't think English is her first language -- am I wrong about that?
I detected a slight accent on her LLLs, but smiled at the thought of her maturity to know what her goals are. I am also happy that she has another teammate in Blanca, who shares a similar pathway to UConn, though Blanca left home at 13 years old, and had to learn the Italian language.
I guarantee that sometime in the future when they return to their respectful homelands, someone (family, friends, etc.) will lovingly say to them, “You sound so American”. I know this because all immigrants in the US, experience this change in accents, speech, pronunciation, etc.

Had seen a number of Gandy's videos from the past two years and my impression is that she was surrounded by below average talent (i.e. coaches and players). Did not see any plays on either offense or defense that resembled what she is being asked to do at UConn so expect a tough learning curve this year.

She’s a cut above Piath

I commented on it during the live chat but Gandy has great footwork/foot speed for a big. She was guarding out to the three point line on some possessions and was switching quite quickly. I hope she is a sponge because her natural talent is definitely there at least defensively.

My impression is that she's along for more than just the ride.
I suspect that she has the desire and is willing to put in the work, and that UConn is going to need her to be ready someday in a big way to back up, complement & platoon with Jana to say the least.
