A very interesting subject - game counting. As I said earlier, probably not an issue here.

But . . when they count the games a team is allowed to play, not only does the first conference tourney game count, but conversely, some 3 game tourney's count as only "1" game as well. That's how we have gotten to "40-0" as even possible, never mind achieved.

So while the NCAA has "cut-back" permitted contests for sports like Softball in the interest of parity, WBB (and I assume, but don't know, MBB) has seen an admittedly modest increase.

By my count the denominator is 31. That concerns me. But I also heard/read(???) that one conference tournament game counts toward the denominator, so, if that is the case, there should be no problem getting the redshirt.

Yes, 1 tournament game counts - so it is 32.

For redshirt calculations, each regular season game counts separately - even those that qualify for multi-team event treatment in determining how many games a team may play.

(I'm also one who looks to the "spirit" of a law, and not just to the "letter" thereof, though I recognize that many do not lean in that direction. Here is a kid who has missed a lot of her high school and college games because of injury, and I don't think her case violates the spirit of this regulation in the slightest degree.

When it comes to the redshirt calculation, the NCAA does not allow subjectivity.
